French language book for ThaiInterest forums / Speaking in Tongues
hi, | ||
What is this "western alphabet" of which you speak? The letter 'j', for instance, stands for various different sounds depending on whether you're reading English, Spanish, French, German, Croatian, Portuguese or Finnish. I can't imagine an introductory French textbook in any language that wouldn't begin by introducing the letters used in French and the sounds they stand for. Mastering the alphabet is simply a prerequisite for studying most languages. (Even with Chinese, where reading and speaking are sometimes taught as separate skills at the beginning, you really can't go very far without learning to read.) | 1
There's a bookstore at the Alliance Française in Bangkok. If what you're looking for exists, you'll probably find it there: http://en.alliance-francaise.or.th/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=18&Itemid=29 | 2
