I think I've heard sometimes Maradona being called "El Pibe".
According to this site one of his nicknames is "El Pibe de Oro". According to this one he is the "Pelusa".
About those Brazilian names, I don't know. But Brazilians are free to choose whatever name they want for their children:
"In Brazil you might have a Neuzinha, Lucimar, Wanderley, Marlão Brandão, Hitler Mussolini, Doremi, Walteno, Wilson, Waldemar, or even worse: Barrigudinha Seleida ( Pot-bellied Seleida) José Amâncio e Seus Trinta e Nove ( José Amâncio and His Thirty Nines), José Casou de Calças Curtas ( José Married in Short Pants), Magnésia Bisurada (Sodium Bicarbonate), Naida Navinda Navolta, Pereira (Going, Coming, Back Pereira), Napoleão Sem Medo e Sem Mácula (Fearless and Sinless Napoleon), Otávio Bundasseca (Dry Buttock Otávio etc." (from http://www.portcult.com/Portugal.05.NAMES.htm)
So I think they just find those names funny.
I remember a Brazilian footballer playing in Portugal whose name was "Marlão Brandão"
