Hi,

I posted this several days ago in the South America branch with no responses, so I'm reposting here:

I'm traveling to Bolivia soon and planning on studying at a Spanish school for a few weeks. I'm an intermediate speaker. I've been searching for schools and haven't found a lot in terms of recommendations on here, so I've decided to post a list of the school sites that I've found for people who may be looking in the future. To be quite honest, none of the schools I've found look great - the first five seem to me to have inflated prices (~$7 an hour) based on what I've heard about what to expect. The sixth school looks good but doesn't give prices and hasn't responded to my email yet. The seventh school is the right price, but it always makes me wary when a language school has language errors on their website...even though it's in English. Finally, the eighth school looked decent when I accessed their site about a week ago but it is not functioning now and I don't quite remember the details. Can anyone recommend good Spanish schools in La Paz or Sucre that I have not listed (or recs within the ones I've listed)?

You probably aren't getting any good info because Bolivia is way off the beaten trail for studying the language. That being said, if you aren't certain which one to go to, just show up in the country, spend a couple of days doing some leg work, and you should have no problem in finding one that will suit your needs. The country is fairly inexpensive so you can figure it out once there. The key issue will be deciding which city as Sucre and La Paz are very different, but both are interesting. If you are planning on going during winter months, La Paz doesn't have a lot of heating and there is a pervasive cold.

Uganda to Bolivia? Not the usual travel route. Have you considered another country to study the language or do you have to go to Bolivia? Colombia has an easier accent to practice with; or you'll probably get more info about programs in Mexico, Guatemala & Costa Rica as they are more popular places to study it.

Buena Suerte
