NBC News reported on Saturday, September 7, that Leo Tolstoy's complete works have been scanned, proofread by hundreds of volunteers, and made available on line. The project was launched in June with the goal of completing it by September 9, the anniversary of the writer's birth.

Tolstoy's great-granddaughter, who is director of the Tolstoy Museum, was one of the collaborators on the project.

There is an English language version of the site under construction at present. Maybe we can hope that means the Great man's writings might also get translated. I did War and Peace as part of my English literature A level, well sections of it. Heavy going in places, but such a wonderful work.


Learn to say 'Thank you' in the local language.
The natives like that.
