We'll be in Puerto Vallarta, San Miguel Allende and Guanajuato around the time as the day of the dead festival. Which of these three would be the best place to see the festivities? We can organize our trip in any order.
Any advice appreciated - thanks!

Hi,
I am thinking of going to Mexico for the day of the dead celebrations this year but it will mean cutting my time in Colombia short. For this reason i am unsure. Can anyone tell me where would be a good place to go near or in Mexico City from the 31st October for a good cultural experience? Also how long do events go on for - do they continue for a few days after Nov 2nd or so?
Thanks!
Hey, I'm going to be travelling around South America but will start in Mexico, just for Day of the Dead. Is Mexico City a good place to be and is a week long enough? Thanks!
I was in Sayulita, Mexico a couple of years ago, and the beach was lovely and surfers were having a wonderful time and there was a inviting looking campground right at the beach and the food we ate was delicious and fresh and I can't say enough about this little town. Friendly people, beautiful scenery, I'm going there again!

Thanks, No.5. Actually, I meant that. From what I have seen, not a big tourist deal. And no impact on hotels.
From what I have seen things start happening the evening / night of Nov. 1st. since Nov.2nd is Dia de los Muertos..I believe I will be in San Miguel de Allende...
Oh also - further to my email below.
We will be there for the day of the dead - i heard that Oaxaca is a good place to be for this. Any other suggestions? Perhaps special ceremonies etc that happen in the Yucatan?
regards
Hi there,
I'm off to Mexico for four weeks next year and super excited about it - I've never visited before. The other day I was at a market and there was a guy selling hand painted Day of the Dead skulls as ornaments. They were beautiful (about the size of a real human skull) and I thought about buying one, but they were very expensive ($180AUS). And then I thought, maybe it would be easier (and cheaper) to buy them when I get over to Mexico.
Could someone who has been before (or is from…
