Hello, Thank you for your interest in Visiting Bwindi INP. Unlike DRC, Uganda's security situation is pretty good. You need not to be alarmed especially by alarmists. The report by AJ should be trashed. Uganda is very peaceful. You should proceed with you trip. visit https://www.monitor.co.ug for updated news about the security of Uganda

The big ones to consider are:
1. Kusadasi. A bit overrun with day-trippers from the cruise ships, but it has super access to Efes and Priene and Didim and you can do a longer day trip to Pamukkale. Izmir airport - 90 minutes.
2. Bodrum. The town centre is night-club party town and it's probably the most popular coastal holiday place for Turks. But there are lots of foreigners there too. I found that there was no sign of overcharging foreigners there - Kusadasi does have that problem. Access to day trips is more limited but you can go to Rhodes and Pamukkale and Efes and Priene on a very long day trip. The only local places are smaller. Mugla airport.
3. Marmaris. Similar to Bodrum but more foreigner-oriented and not so Turkish. A little quieter. Mugla or Dalaman airport.
4. Dalyan. Much quieter and more relaxed than the beach towns as it's on a river. The local sights are like villages and mud baths but there's an ancient city which is much quieter than most of the others around there.
5. Fethiye. A large town with a tourist coastal strip. Day trips to the oludeniz area and old villages, and great boat cruises.
6. Kas. Far away from an airport, which is a pain in the neck, but very pretty, friendly, and relaxed. No big cultural sites.
7. Antalya. A big city with a mix of small-pension tourism and all-inclusive resorts. Lovely old centre. Good access to several cultural sites.
East of Antalya it starts getting hotter but Alanya and Side are worth considering if you like that.
LAS VEGAS
We've stayed three times at the Desert Rose Resort, not too far from McCarran Airport - and a block or so back from The Strip behind Tropicana ... it has great rooms and good parking near to them. You can do worse, if you're not after one of the big flash casino-hotels right on The Strip.
You can also catch a commuter bus from nearby, to the main car-rental centre as well ... takes about 20-30 minutes.
Well ... the dress code in all the major casinos is very casual - I can't think of anything I've ever been into in Las Vegas where "posh" would be a good description.
We like the southern end more - which for us means the intersection of S Las Vegas Blvd and Tropicana Avenue - and the four casinos right there are MGM Grand, NYNY, Excalibur, and Tropicana ... check on expedia.com or similar for best room prices.
The last couple of times we've stayed at the Desert Rose Resort - just behind Tropicana, and off the Strip. Roomy apartments with kitchens, adequate pool area, parking almost at your door, and no gambling on site. Not for everyone, but we like it.

Hi all,
Background: Early 30s solo traveller, like art (contemporary art especially), live music (most usually guitar based but not only), food, underground subcultures, friendly people, not after big sights that take a long time to go and see really but more to take in the feel of a city.
I have some vacation days to use up in the early-mid June period and want to travel to a city in East Asia for 5 nights. Somewhere in Japan would be my #1 choice but I am saving that for a longer trip next year. I don't know any languages from the region, usually pick up pretty fast but less so when I don't know the script. I have a multi-entry China visa that is valid for a while yet from a work trip.
My thoughts, pros. cons, currently slot as follows:
Taipei:
- Have heard a lot of good things about culture, also maybe quite friendly towards visitors? Flights slightly expensive and is there the sort of music scene I would look for?
Hong Kong:
- Probably one of the easier and cheaper ones for me to get to but I feel like the accommodation could be more expensive and don't know that much about how it is culturally?
Shanghai:
- I like the idea of this place but is it too modern and clinical? Seems like there is a lot happening, but would it be hyper-glitzy or is there interesting stuff under the radar?
Seoul:
- I feel the food and nightlife could be good, one of the more expensive for me to get to and I have heard reports of solo travellers feeling a touch unwelcome?
Beijing:
- Cheapest for me to get to but have heard many reports of it not being a great place to spend more than a couple of days, and frankly haven't managed to get a good feel to it from what I have read. Lots of historical sights but is there something to fit what I am after?
Would be grateful for any thoughts/ideas.
Hello everyone - I will have 7-10 nights for the Dalmatian Coast in early June and am looking for recommendations for a couple or three destinations that would be the best for making day trips - to maximize exploring while minimizing changing hotels every couple of nights. I've read back through threads here, a guidebook and blogs, a linked ferry schedule, but don't grasp the points of reference to know which destinations might be best for this.
I will be traveling by bus and ferries, coming from Plitvice, with no plans to visit Istria. I can start from Zadar or Split, staying on the mainland or islands. I have read that Cavtat is a nice alternative to Dubrovnik, and a bit closer for taking a day trip to Kotor or some place in Montenegro. I'm flexible with 3-5 days for returning through Mostar and onto Sarajevo for catching a flight back to Istanbul.
In 2017, I had a spectacular two weeks in/around Naples with minimal moving around while staying 4-nights in Praiano for exploring the Amalfi Coast, and 3 nights on Procida for some island hoping as day trips. Ideally, I would like to find something similar for Croatia - if possible.
Thanks in-advance for your recommendations.

From a medical website:
Dengue. Recent cases of Dengue have been confirmed in Sri Lanka, with most cases reported from Colombo. Risk of Dengue exists throughout the country and transmission occurs year-round. There are two peak seasons for Dengue transmission in Sri Lanka: from October to December and from May to July.
Our personal experience was that on our last trip, last july there were not that many mosquitoes.
Take the usual precautions though
Have a great trip, Sri Lanka is a fantastic country to visit

Hi there,
My partner and I are looking to travel to Phuket and surrounding areas July 2019. We'll be there 10 nights.
We're students on a budget, so we were hoping to stay in a few areas with different levels of luxury. Thinking of staying around Patong for a few nights (cheap/airbnb?) and base out of there to do day trips inland and around Patong then perhaps stay on one of the islands for a night or two, then head back to Patong/Karon beach for a few nights of more luxurious resorts.
We're hoping for a relatively quiet and beachside trip but still accessible to night markets/some night life as well.
Do you guys have any recommendations on places we should visit and specifically resorts/hotels we can stay in?
In your experiences, is it better to be based in Patong and do island day trips/island hop or stay overnight? Are there any good recommendations for island hotels? Which islands are must dos?
We were also hoping to visit the Phuket Elephant sanctuary, is it easy/expensive to catch a taxi from Patong to the sanctuary? About how much would it cost ?
Thank you!
