When is this trip? Season matters.

What are your interests? History? Art? Music? Food? Hikes? Bikes? Night clubs? Strip clubs? Remember, we don't know you and what we like may be what you hate.

Somewhat related to above, why did you pick some of these places, e.g. Highlands?

First tip:
Get a guidebook, and read it.
(You're basically asking us to recreate one for you.)

Second tip:
Pare your plans. The country is vast, and a month goes by much faster than you may think. You can either visit your "highlights," or you can enjoy some of them and the "scenic roads" and places between them.

Hi everyone,

I am planning a trip to Northwestern Sichuan mid May, how do the roads look there? G317 and G318 are these roads on cliffs and dangerous?

Thanks

Hi all,
Thanks again for all your help from my previous posts! Your advice is great!
There are two segments of my family (two boys ages 9 and 11) backpacking trip in Guatemala and Belize that I am a bit unsure about. I may need to make some changes. I wanted to get your opinion first.

  1. We fly home at 7:50pm on a Monday(first to Mexico, then to Canada). On the day we are flying home I was planning to travel from Rio Dulce to the airport. The only bus company I can find for this route is Litegua. The bus leaves at 9:30am. Will this bus get to Guatemala city in time? I looked at google maps and it is approx. 8km and about 25 mins to get from bus station to airport.

  2. We also want to travel from Nebaj to Lanquin in one day. Based on information I have found online, I think this is do able with public transportation. We could leave Nebaj as early as necessary to get to Lanquin by early evening/late afternoon. What do you think? What time would you leave Nebaj?

My original plan was to use adrenalina tours and hire a car and driver for these two segments, but they are quoting me $500USD for the two trips. That is just too much.
Thanks again!

I was not there during December but my trip was finished in October. The weather was "fine" during the day but very cold after the sundown.

Hi all,

Thanks in advance for any recommendations anyone may have. Next weekend (Nov. 8-10) I am making a long-awaited trip to Hampi. Very excited. For the first day (Friday Nov. 8), I would like to take the advice I have received here on Thorn Tree and hire a guide to get a sense of the place, and then go around the ruins on my own the following day. Does anyone have a guide/agency/or guesthouse that arranged your tour that you would recommend?

Hi,

I am planning to go to Iran with a friend in May and realized it is the time of Ramadan.

I have a few questions regarding visiting Iran in the Ramadan:

Are restaurants and businesses open normally? How is the public transportation in the major cities (mostly Tehran and Isfahan?

I have also read that there are special events in the evenings of the Ramadan. Is it true?

I don't want to cancel my trip (has been a dream for many years) - please encourage me that it is good to go there on Ramadan.

Thanks a lot

Hi Everyone,

I'm off to South East Asia in the next few weeks for a month, and my plans may be changing and taking me to Myanmar.
On most of my trips I like to have some kind of activity or challenge to form part of it. Examples include cycling in the alps, trekking in Nepal, diving in Indonesia.

I'm on a backpacker budget of around £1,000 spending (exluding flights of course), I'm doing research but getting a little short on time so im reaching out for suggestions. Do you have any ideas of some activity or challenge that I could shoehorn into my trip?

Thanks :)

It's your trip and your choice.
I don't see why not going there but it's only my advice.
