This is a super random and nitpicky question, but I am looking for recommendations for a hotel in Montreal's Golden Square Mile (near McGill University) where the hotel's room temperatures are NOT centrally controlled and the thermostats actually work and are even perhaps digital. I've been a few times in winter lately and am getting fed up with not being able to sleep most nights because the rooms are too hot and you can't control the temperature yourself, or even open the window beyond a sliver. This isn't something you can quickly find out about on hotel websites, as you can imagine : ) so i thought I would see if by chance people here have suggestions. Not looking for hostels or cheap stays, but not luxury either. Just normal hotels in the $150 to $180 range if possible.

Was searching for shortest ABC Trek itinerary and came across below...
Day 1- Pokhara - Drive to Siwai and then trek to Chomrong
Day 2- Trek to Hotel Himalaya
Day 3- Trek to ABC
Day 4- Back trek to Bamboo
Day 5- Trek to motkyu and then drive to Pokhra.
How hard is this itinerary compared to relaxed itinerary of 7-10 days? Does it go via different route?

I will be landing in Zurich at 6:30am and leaving on 10:30pm in mid-march. I am thinking to go to Lunterbrunnen and come back. Would it be enough time or is there any other stops I should make?
When I buy a train ticket at the airport, do I just ask for a run trip ticket and I can go in between these cities with any train or do I need to reserve specific train?

From Moloundou only motor bike transport to Congo border. Over half day trip through the rainforest of huge baobab ttees, remote villages ,on a single track road.Very little traffic, some big trucks all going Douala direction. It will cost you 25000 CFA to Sokumba plus 3000 to the port access across from Quesso. The ferry here for the large trucks is free for every one but only available when trucks arrive .So you take a small pirogue for 1000 CFA any time.Passport exit stamp at Sokumba. Many police, military check points requesting bribes .I refused so they made me open my pack going through everything. Over an hour delay.Congo side the nurse checked me for ebola and you must wash your hands ,show her yellow fever certificate, ect then she asked for a gift as did the custom official.Imigration stamp in fast and no bribe in another office. Forgot about pirogue man also looking for you know what!Taxi 500 CFA.to Quesso, stayed Hotel Resid,10000 with open sitting area, clean and quiet. Sell cold beer, exactly what I needed .I was exhausted after bike ride but more from the demands of the check stops. Stayed another day to regroup and wash the red dust from clothing and pack.

Hello there,
I am looking for a drive from Paris to Hamburg.
I would have bought a cheap ticket at Blablabus if I had some money,
but is tottally broke here in Paris, and I need to get back to Denmark over Hamburg.
I can swap a pair of Nike Sneakers for the trip, that's all I got.
I am a working artist - always poor and broke. Is anyone driving
or can help me?

Hi everybody,
So, I have tickets booked to go from USA to Israel via a layover in Rome in Mid April. I will not leave the transit zone, or get stamped into the EU while stopped in Rome. Looking at the news, it looks like Israel is beginning to turn back non-Israeli travelers 'coming from' Italy. I know things are changing by the day with coronavirus fears, but right now, my flight has not been cancelled. I am wondering, do we know right now if an American with a 4 hour stop in Rome would be turned away? Wouldn't my ticket be cancelled by the airlines if that were so?

Hi !
I am not sure if anyone would have any answer to my question here, but I cannot seem to find any info about my tax situation ! Here is the situation :
I am a French citizen, and has been an exchange student in the US during Academic year 2016/2017 under the J1 "Student, Non-Degree" visa status. During year 2018, I was not in the US and only visited a 2 weeks on ESTA Visa waiver. And in 2019, I conducted an internship from January 2019 to June 2019.
My problem is as follow : my employer withhold social security and Medicare taxes, because according to them I was considered a tax Resident for 2019. When I enter my information on software (like the Spintax one), they tell me I am still considered non-resident and should get a refund from those taxes. I am a bit lost.
I gathered those information about the resident/Non-resident situation, and wondered if anyone knew or was in the same situation:
J1 Student visa : 5 years tax exempt (considered "Non-Resident Alien") stating from the first year of entry (in my case, that would be 2016)
J1 Non-student, such as trainee or Intrern : can claim the first 2 years from the date of entry as a non-resident, not exempt anymore at the start of the third year and needs to file as a resident for tax purposes after that (if substancial test passed)
I personnally think I should still be non-resident, but does anyone know more about cases like this? Are my previous 6 years of exemption still up to date, even if I had another visa type in the meantime? Or my J1 Intern category from 2019 took over and "reset" it? Or my first J1 visa was considered "Non-student" and I only had 2 yars of exemption, now expired, and need to file as a resident?
Thank you for your help !

Hello! We are planning an island getaway in Europe for early September and cannot decide between Sardinia or the Cyclades, specifically Naxos and/or Paros. They sound equally amazing. We have been to Italy (Rome, Tuscany, Venice) and love it, but this would be our first time in Greece.
Here are details about us and what we are looking for. Given the time of year and our wish list, which would you recommend?
- Active couple in our late 40s
- We would be flying in and out of ATL using Delta miles. Delta flies direct to Rome but not Athens, so for the latter we would have to connect through Paris or another European city.
- We'd like to spend about 10 days on the ground. If we choose Sardinia we'll spend 4 nights in Rome (one of our favorite cities) and 6 on the island; if we choose Greece we'll only spend a night or two in Athens and the rest of the time in the Cyclades.
- We are comfortable renting a car if necessary.
- We don't need luxury accommodations (we are definitely not the Costa Smeralda crowd) but would prefer smaller boutique or family-owned properties - budget is about $200 to $250 USD per night.
- Would like: Warm and clear turquoise water, beautiful white sand beaches, low crowds, little or no cruise ship traffic, laid-back pace, sailing, hiking, marine life, beautiful views, dramatic scenery, pretty towns, good food and wine (we are fairly adventurous eaters)
- Do not want: nightlife or a party atmosphere, big crowds, overdevelopment, lots of cruise ships, dry/scrubby landscapes
I hope this is enough to go on! Thanks for helping us pick.

Hello everyone :)
My apologies in advance for renewing a topic that has previously been addressed on these forums, but most of the posts I've found are a bit outdated and I wasn't sure if anyone had any updated information. In short, I am traveling to Cuba in May (I'm an American living abroad, traveling from Switzerland, heading to Havana via Mexico), and in doing research for the trip, I've read that many people take gifts/donations etc. This is something I intend to do, but I want to do so respectfully and responsibly. My boyfriend and his father are in the medical field (surgeon and dentist), so I figured I could get them to get a bunch of extra supplies and basic medicines together. I'm a musician, but I'm not so sure how desperately anyone needs valve oil for their horn, haha, so I was thinking feminine products and even towels (I read that they're appreciated), and my boyfriend's mother is a schoolteacher, so we thought of bringing school supplies. I've heard that some of the government-run donation centers tend to re-sell items, so I'd like to avoid that if possible. Should I just go to any church or local hospital in Havana and bring these items? Or orphanages? Any insight/suggestions anyone has would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
