I take it you are on a business trip if you have booked the Docklands hotel no other reason for it, as it not central London and does not have great access to Central London. Best way from Heathrow Airport is the tube to green Park, then jubilee to Canada Water then taxi, uber or walk from there.

Sunday for Gatwick i would probably do a pre-book taxi you cab get one for about £50 google airport taxis London.

Going back form Lancaster Gate you can take the tube back to Heathrow.

#18, There is no Gatwick Express service overnight, only Southern and Thameslink! Anyone who takes the Heathrow Express clearly has more money than brains.

Hi From Perth Australia
Can anyone please advise me as I'm having trouble contacting bus lines etc.
What is the best way to get my bike from Heathrow to harpendon or Wellingborough north of London?

It will be in an airline bike box and I'm thinking :
can I get it onto a shuttle bus to say Luton? (no luck so far)
can I get it to a train station (via the tube? ) and then head north by train (if British rail will take it?)
or even if I could get it to a bike shop somewhow near Heathrow so I can store it there in the box until I fly back (out of gatwick) to Australia a few weeks later. (Box is about 140cm x 80cm x 30cm)

Help!

Appreciate all comments and suggestions
cheers
Mike

In general, its cheaper into Ireland... Any time you involve Heathrow or Gatwick etc the taxes come in if it is your final arrival/departure location... Transferring through these airports is not as bad though...

"Savvy budget travellers will look at a cheap hop to mainland Europe and a longhaul from there to save paying these amounts."
Unfortunately the savings in taking some cheaper flight by a contorted route is considerably less than the lost wages in taking flights at awkward times. Try getting any cheap flight close to Christmas is damn near impossible and would certainly entail losing working time so no savings.
Leaving the office and walking 50 yards to T3 or 100 yards to T2 at Heathrow has advantages over trekking to Gatwick, Luton or Stansted.

I would get a taxi into London I you want to do a bit of sightseeing in the morning. Google taxis Gatwick to central London and plenty of reasonable one will be found. Stay somewhere near either a tube station on the Piccadilly line or Paddington where you can get the Heathrow connect. If you stay near Gatwick forget sightseeing the next morning.

Yeah shop around - you're lucky with London; you got Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, City, and one or two more...
But not all cheap airlines operate out of every airport so you really have to do some research .

Ryanair and Easyjet are probably your best bet, but before you book a cheap airline ticket figure out if the way from/to the airport is as cheap as your plane ticket. It's no use to have a cheap flight ticket but than have to pay a high amount to get to the London Airport and from the Airport in Germany to Frankfurt City

....If I can remember right; I was once flying to Belfast with easyjet and the bus ticket from the Airport to the City was about 30 % of the amount I paid for the flight...!

You can get from Heathrow to London centre either by train (arriving to Paddington) or tube (see map: http://content.tfl.gov.uk/standard-tube-map.pdf. You can get to Gatwick from Victoria station by bus or train.

Where you go in between is up to you! Look for the best route for you on Transport for London's website: https://tfl.gov.uk/

I have just checked Pegasus flights at London Stansted and Gatwick - both to and from Istanbul. They appear to be running as normal.
And Turkish Airline flights from both Ataturk and Sabiha Gokcen have arrived at Gatwick.

(Yes, I do know London isn't in America. I just put this up in case any British people have queries.)

Added - I've just been to look at Heathrow. Some American airlines flying in and out of IST, on a 'code-share' with British Airways. Mike, you might get a flight out that way.
