Hi,
With this being my first time really travelling alone, looking to spend 2-3 months in Indonesia arriving in June, I have found myself looking at tours to ensure a good way of meeting people and efficiently seeing specific things! The 21 day Java to Bali tour has caught my eye, it ends in the Gili islands which I have wanted to visit for a while (I am very keen to explore the nightlife!) and I intend on catching a boat back from the islands to Bali once the tour is over to explore the island as I wish. Has anyone used The Adventure People before? Is it possible that the 21 days is a bit too long for a first time traveler to go on? I am concerned that as there is small groups too, it may be a bit constrictive for a 22 year old?

Any feedback would be really appreciated, thanks!

Hello everyone,

I'd like to go from Bcharre, in Qadisha Valley, to Baalbek...There's a road but I don't know if it's open in April.
Does anyone know it?

If it's not, I should go first to Beirut, so it takes a lot of time (and money) more...

thank you very much!

Hi

As a South African I can only get an eVisa for Turkey for 30 days. We plan to walk the Lycian Way so would need one for more than 30-days. The process in-country is onerus, requiring Police Clearance certificates, Residency Status from Home Affairs, etc. It would take me over a month to get this, and only then can I book an appointment. I phone the Turkish Consular-General who tole me that I can apply for a new 30-day eVisa while in Turkey. This is contrary to everything that I can find on the internet. Can any confirm whether they have extended their 30-day visa while in Turkey?

Some posts mention a visa-run to another country, problem is I need a visa to get to neighbouring countries too!!

Any advice?

Thanks,
Ian

Hi all,

I'm planning to fly to Guatemala City from Europe on this Thurday (5th of March). This plan came up only a week ago, but now I've been having doubts about going for several reason. My three concerns:

1) I've been reading a LOT about robberies, sexual assaults, etc. How safe is it for me to go to Guatemala as a solo female traveler? I will visit Antigua, Lake Atitlan and Flores / Tikal.
2) Is the risk of the Corona virus a reason NOT to go at the moment? Since it's in Mexico already and who knows in Central America.
3) How about the Zika virus and Dengue fever? I've been reading about outbreaks a lot (2019).

This will be my itinerary:
- Day 1: Fly into GUA, arrive around 9PM and have a private transfer from the hostel to Antigua.
- Day 2-5: Antigua for 4 nights (so I have 2 full days in Antigua and 1 more for doing Pacaya).
- Day 5: Antigua-Panajachel by shuttle bus.
- Day 6: Panajachel. Thinking about taking a boat to Santa Cruz, then walk to Jaibality since I heard it's nice, then take the boat back to Panajachel. BUT now I've read online that it's dangerous to go hiking around Lake Atitlan on your own. Is it not safe to walk from Santa Cruz to Jaibalito on your own then? Have people been doing this recently?
- Day 7: Panajachel-San Pedro by boat. Want to take the boat to San Marcos and come back to San Pedro.
- Day 8: San Pedro. Hike the Indian Nose. Is the best to do a sunrise trek (at 4AM)?
- Day 9: San Pedro-GUA airport. Fly to Flores in the evening.
- Day 10: Tikal sunset tour
- Day 11: Fly flom Flores to Managua (with two stopovers, 1 in GUA, 1 in San Salvador)
- Day 12-32: Nicaragua.

Any thoughts? What should I keep in mind as a solo traveller?
Or should I just not go?

Thanks so much!

Good afternoon,

Could someone help me out here. I have a flight booked from Osaka to Los Angeles. However, my flight has 23h transit in Xiamen (china). I have read online that foreigners (not US citizens) travelling from China into the US will be refused the entry. Do you think I should be worried about it? Or shall I rebook the flight?

Thanks a million for your answers.

I take it for pain management and can't get back to the US before my prescription is done. Just wondering if I can possibly get it here from a Shanghai doctor. I do have my old prescription box and a note from my doctor in English and Chinese stating I need this medication for medical reasons and how long I've been taking it, etc.

Hello Everyone,

I am planning a surfing safari with my son from Dominical in mid April to Popoyo a month later and am having trouble finding up to date information and this place seems to have some awesome guru's :-). Seems hiring a car from a reputable place is the best plan but I keep reading about breakins and theft.

My questions;

  1. They say never carry anything valuable but always carry your passport and drivers license as police will often want to look at it. If I am out surfing, exactly how are these breakins done? Smashing windows? Am I better off not even locking it? Putting passport in locked glove box or hiding it and having nothing else visible? I understand not leaving things visible for opportunistic thieves but I don't want broken windows when I am 4 hours away from San Jose i the middle of a trip either.

  2. Given I am going for a month, I would rather buy 2 used surfboards either in Dominical or can stop into Jaco or somewhere else with a car. How much should I budget to pay for a decent board that should survive a month and where is the best place to seek one out. Is there online places also worth a look?

  3. Do prices for accomodation (think airbnb or similar) become more flexible after mid April as I notice a lot of vacancies after the easter break?

Thanks again for taking the time to read this and I appreciate any advice you can offer.

Regards

Bill
