Stone the crows tendsetters - I hate unanswered questions. What's wrong with you frequent answer dudes?

Having said that, moestris's question is (I'm sure without intention) maybe a bit broad for a simple answer.
To moestri I ask:
-What demographic do you fill - budget traveler, flashpacker, mid-ranger or high end? This makes a big difference to responses.
-Do you think of Krabi as being the classic Railay/Ton Sai/Phra Nang/Ao Nang area or are we talking the general Krabi area (which includes…

Thai food with "cheap white bread". One wonders where you ate. Thais eat rice and noodles with dishes. They rarely eat bread unless it's a sweet variety.

There are tons of restaurants that have cheap white bread and cater to falangs in Thailand. Even Thais eat a fair amount of sandwiches. Go to any 7-Eleven and look in their refrigerated section. You can get at least 10 different types of sandwiches with crappy white bread (I'm a sucker for the grilled ham and cheese after some…

i'll make a stab at this but you're all over the place... and sorry, but my answers will be as well!!!
To begin, that time of year is hot hot hot...be aware....super hot, and humid and sweaty.....and HOT..

Your current locations shows as Illinois.. Are you really flying all that distance for a week?? ugh...American holiday systems!!! .No matter where you go, you are going to have to pass thru Bangkok as 99% of flights go this way....Not many international flights go direct to CNX though a…

Yup, that’s the spot! Although it’s west, not north. If any of you are here in Chang Mai now and feeling adventurous just send me a private message. I’m staying at the Jasmine House near the North wall. (About 5 blocks from the “cowboy hat lady” featured in the same episode)

I’d love to have someone to hang with for a day or two!

Still cheap places to stay and eat on Koh Samui. But not if you want somewhere with all the whistles and bells.

I have been looking for info on the best bus route to make this happen, but have come up short. The plan is to go from Chiang Rai to Udon on 12Feb.2016 which is a Friday. From what I've gathered there is an overnight bus from Chiang Rai to Udon Thani. I'm having trouble finding solid info, and I would like to book my hotel in Vientiane in advanced for the 13th of Feb. Is this plausible or will it take more time? Any information would be much appreciated.

i agree with lucapal and friendly_checkingirl, with 2 weeks i would stick to one beach destination and spend a day or two more in chiang mai and/or bangkok.

i would also put the bangkok stay at the end of the trip, for 2 reasons: there are great shopping opportunities there and you dont want to carry everything you buy around for the rest of your trip. but the main reason is - this is your first trip to asia. i love bangkok and it offers a lot, but its also huge, very crowded, polluted etc. and…

The area between Nong khiaw and Muang khua has plenty of opportunities for self guided treks. Absolutely not a human zoo, as they are not waiting for the arrival of a tour, but happy to sell you a meal or a beer, or some weaving as a sideline if you wander into their village. You can do very cheap homestays in the villages outside Muang ngoi neua, with squirrel and bat on the menu, if you so desire.

It is very low key, and puts you in the position of handing money to locals, rather than a tour…

It isn't allowed (I'm not sure you'd find a boatman who would do it), but you could ask at the National Park office in Pak Bara (or Adang), you never know. There are two ranger stations in Rawi - one in the South East (Haat Sai Khao) and one in the South West (Ao Talo Palien). Maps. (Ranger Stations are for rangers, not tourists).

In Adang National Park Camp, they don't mind if you camp 200m along the beach, away from the designated camping area - this might be an option.

Tarutao might also…

I think you're better off to get your phone in the states as it gives you time to set it up and make sure everything works. Yes, make sure it works on the frequencies/system used in Asia.

One more thing: cheap phones come with cheaper components and this includes the GPS receiver. The result can be that it takes forever to acquire a GPS lock on - and it doesn't stay locked on - to the point were the GPS became useless. There are cheap phones which work wrll, too, but better make sure you got a…
