Hey, I have the same situation. I currently have a student visa (one semester only) which expires at the end of October but I want to travel India until February, so will need to apply for a tourist visa. How did you go in Nepal? Was it a hassle to get a tourist visa after your student visa? I can't seem to find any information about switching from a student visa to a tourist visa. I am concerned that the same 2 month rule that applies to repeat tourist visa may apply also to student visas!

I read a report on here about someone that applied for an Indian visa in Yangon but that was a few years ago. Doing a search, the only thing more recent that comes up is a guy who got the visa 5 months ago in Mandalay but he doesn't say what documents were required or how long it took. Only the visa fee is mentioned. His reply is buried in the India/Myanmar overland topic.

I'm in the process of planning a 1 month jaunt through the Indian subcontinent at the end of January. My vague plan is to fly from Bangkok to Male and see the Maldives before they sink then head back to Bangkok and onward to Dhaka, spend a few days there then head for Kolkata, have a 2 or 3 day look around, on to Colombo, stop there 2 or 3 days then head for Delhi, do some standard touristy site-seeing then flit off to Cairo for a short stop.

How long does it take to get it (I saw 3 days usually) ? Is it generally a 3 months or a 6 months visa? I saw about the fees (around 100$), and we have to pay in USD only, right?
