I think if you look into a good Indian music store you will find something like I did on my last trip, a boxed set on Indian music appreciation. A whole course in itself, the fault for my modest understanding only lies in my limited capacity..

If you plan to visit Goa around feb or at some point during your sojourn these parts, do drop me a line - I might be headed to that state some time close to that period and would probably be driving down to it from Bombay.
Lastly I was not jumping to any conclusions was just making light of your fears so you could perceive things from a more realistic and balanced standpoint. I may have sounded like a pompous ass that jumps to baseless conclusions…

Last Year in March 2002 i did a wonderful trek in
uttaranchal for a week in Kedarnath Valley.We went as high as nearly
4000mtrs and even climbed a non techincal peak of Chandrashilla. From the
Chandrashilla Top we watched almost all the prominent peaks of the area including Nanda
Devi ( nearly 8000mtrs). I really have wonderful memories of this trekking
holiday.

In fact Indian embassies do have different rules. It can be possible to get another visa at Bkok . the Changmai consulate has reputation for more relaxed attitude.

There is super combo of living with an Indian family and alongside learn to cook Indian cuisines. If anyone is travelling to the western side of Gujarat, visiting Vadodara (Baroda) the cultural capital of Gujarat, could live with an Indian family who has a rich tradition of Indian culture and enjoys being hospitable to guests.
