This will bear some watching. I am seeing at least one report that some locations may still continue operations. Many are franchises and the owners of the franchise can rebrand and keep going. The owner/operator in Austin, TX plans to do this, for example. Apparently his business is sufficiently lucrative.

I was here the weekend of July 19th-21st; had no idea the Bureau of Land Management was planning to release their final plan for Bears Ears and the 85% reduction a week later on Friday the 26th. Articles are becoming more specific by the day with what all the 800-page document entails.

Valley of the Gods no longer falls within Bears Ears; now eligible for multiple 'whatevers' without the tighter protected status as part of a Monument. But they've also gone questionably lax on the 15% that was kept, spread over two sections.

Hey all, I am going to CA this Sept and plan to visit Yosemite. I have never been, nor do I really know much about it, aside from wanting to hike El Cap, (pretty avid hiker and used to mountains, albeit not of this scale). So I am curious: What are some things to do/what is a decent way to tackle the park? How much time is recommended. I was gunna spend 2 days but now I'm not sure that's enough. I reckon the park is very large, can it be driven through?
Finally, what are affordable places to stay nearby? I don't need anything fancy just accommodations really.

EDIT: I suppose I should ask, is anyone familiar with/knows the El Cap hiking trail and how long it may take? I am seeing it is 13 miles (possibly longer?) and while I hike at a good clip, the elevation change may slow thins gown? Is this an all day experience?

Hi gals,

As I fixed the below in very last minutes and in a bit rush, appreciate you'll gals are generous enough to input your kind advices. We are flexible to alter the plan too, as far as in the direction to east.

D1 & D2 Budapest
D3 Day trip to Szentendre
D4 after breakfast, taking morning train from Budapest to Eger.

D5 after lunch, taking afternoon train from Eger to Miskolc
D6 Day trip from Miskolc to Lillafured
D7 Day trip from Miskolc to Aggtelek
D8 Miskolc to Tokaj via morning train
D9 Tokaj
D10 Tokaj to Budapest airport via train.

i. in Eger, just to stroll around the town and maybe to the Valley of the Beautiful Women.

ii. Miskolc vs Miskolctapocai - couldn't fix up where should we stay? We plan to do a little hiking in Lillafured. Cave bath is on our list too.

iii. Aggtelek - Seems no direct bus from Miskolc to here. I'm not sure if it is a REAL BIG NOT TO MISS spot that it is worth for us to take all the hazzle to be there on day trip basis?

iv Tokaj - will 3 nights in Tokaj too much?

Thanks in advance.

Dear fellow travellers!

I would really appreciate some ideas and advice.

Me and my girlfriend are planning to travel next summer for 7 days around the Alps region. We are going to fly to a city there from London and use trains and buses to get around.

One country my girlfriend really wants to go to is Slovenia in particular Lake Bled. So ideally include that. We both would like a varied holiday with a mixture of beautiful scenery and nice cities.

Please note that we have already been to the following cities in the region and would rather go other places than these - Munich, Vienna and Venice.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated! :)

I am arriving in Windhoek on January 29 and renting a 4x4 equipped with all the camping gear. There is so much to see and so little time. For now my plan is to head north to the strip and possibly go all the way to Victoria Falls. I have to be back in Windhoek on February 14 to fly home. So I have about 16 days to explore.

To get to the point... Anyone want to join me? 16 days solo sounds great but company would be nice as well. Old, young, male, female, doesn't matter.

Hey yeah, plan is to fly in and out of Zagreb.
From what I can tell most rental agencies are cool with you crossing those borders. So far Sixt was looking to be the best option for renting.

Yaax Che has showers, the restaurant, a variety of spaces - some have tents for people who don't bring one. It was an option for me, but I ended up staying in a clearing at an abandoned structure down the road. You need to plan how to get to Calakmul. I rent a car and camp, bring all my gear, plus a lot of food - dry soups, nuts, dried fruit, granola bars, tuna in a pouch, tins of smoked oysters, etc. Then I buy fruit, avocados, crackers, water, wine; also have a meals in restaurants because I like good food generally, but not having to find a restaurant for every meal gives me some freedom too. When you have a car, you can maximize your travel dollar by being able to see more, do more, get to the out-of-the way special places (e.g., you're skipping all the cenotes?). Camping places are between $7-10 or free. Hostel in Valladolid was $12. I've had very good meals at food stands at gas stations, the taco truck in front of OXXO, food truck at the Tulum junction, very small village plazas, the tamales sold from coolers in a pickup - between 50 cents and $1.50. Great rotisserie chicken meals in Hopelchen. I think cost savings like this can easily balance the cost of a rental car.

Hi,

I’m from Australia and planning to head to Norway and Sweden over Christmas and New Years for a few weeks. I was planning on travelling thoroughly throughout both countries, with particular interest in heading north. I’m 25 so was planning on travelling by myself the whole time. My only issue is that I don’t know how easy it would be to travel around at that time of year? Or because of the weather my options would be limited? I’d love some advice on what would be the best way to travel around, if it’s easy or not, or should I revise my plans?

thanks
