In terms of Bangkok v NYC, it is just an opinion based on personal taste. NYC has some great fancy schmancy restaurants (as does London), Bangkok has different food to offer, genuine regional cuisine and great street food as does Ho Chi Minh city and Phnom Penh (on a side note, I have only visited Bangkok twice). Which place has better food depends on what you are looking for. Me? London better than either.
You can see the article in the link below about tourism experiences in Quang Binh: https://www.myyho.com/2019/05/kham-pha-ve-dep-vuong-quoc-hang-dong-quang-binh.html

If there is will, there is way. From Phong Nha, take a car to Dong Hoi airport for 50 minute then it takes you 1 hour 40 minutes to flight straight to Ho Chi Minh.
Jump on a 4 hours bus from Hue and with the rest of 6 days, you can spend 3 days in Phong Nha and 3 days in Mekong delta. Problem solved :)
When you are there, try out the adventure to trek, swim, camp. Fantastic.

Hi, my name is Mickael and i am taking my gf for two weeks in Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam.
It is too short for what i found reasonable to discover the essence of each place so i would like to choose wisely.
Our plan is to stay at Bangkok a few days, from there do some day tours to one beach, floating market and visit the some places there. Then go in direction to Siem Rep. check the temples there and visit an elephant sanctuary in Cambodia. Finally end in Ho CHi Min (flight back) a couple of days and discover something around.
Anyone can reccomend me something based on my trajectory through those countries?
Any advise would be welcome.

For us, even skipping an island would make for too much moving around in the timeframe you have. But, we travel slower than most people. Go to Koh Phi Phi as a day trip from either Railay or Phuket. Or... skip Koh Phi Phi altogether. I think Maya Bay is closed from June-Sept, so a day trip would mean mostly more beach/snorkel time. We intended to stay on Koh Phi Phi for 4 nights. However, we left the very next day because we really didn't like the ambience and this was quite a while ago. There is plenty to do on Railay and the nearby mainland (temples, hikes, kayaking) to keep you entertained for the extra time. Yes, there are lots of tourists, but it is lovely and somehow seemed to us less annoying than Koh Phi Phi.
I don't like Phuket much either, again mostly for the over touristy ambience. However, on Phuket, the old town is well worth it to explore the old shophouse architecture and the market. There is an interesting temple with a half-buried Buddha, hikes, zip lines and plenty of good snorkel trips. Check out this Trip Advisor page

Hi everyone,
I'm looking for a good trip for my boyfriends birthday. We're both PhD students living in Florence (been here for about 2 years, and will be here for another 3). Therefore, we've seen quite a bit of the surroundings and area. We have not yet been to the Dolomites, however! I wanted to suprise him with a weekend trip (friday-sunday or monday) to the Dolomites. We both love hiking and nature.
His birthday is early January, and we'd be going on the trip between then and end February, depending on our schedules. We have a car.
As the dolomites span a large area and we don't have too much time, I was wondering if someone with experience could recommend me what town to go, or an area with good hiking trails for winter. As we're going for the nature, the more rural, the better :)
Thank you so much!

Hi. Am first time traveler to thailand from Bangladesh.. planing to go phuket and phi phi. My plane arrives bangkok suvarnabhumi airport at 3:05 in the eve. Was planning to go to the southern bus station and catch the bus to phuket directly. plz tell me how can I reach southern bus terminal from airport by bus or train?

Wifey and I will be wrapping up a long sabbatical with 8ish days in the southern Andaman, and I’m having trouble narrowing down a place or 2 (or 3?). Typical, beautiful, low-key, but not dead as the criteria :p.
We’re getting out of a 10day silent meditation, so will probably want a place that’s pretty chill with some activity. Clean, pretty beaches will be key for wifey. I wouldn’t mind a few activities (beach volleyball and snorkelling). Nightlife isn’t a big priority, but a bit of live music (a low-key shake shack if those still exist). We can afford some higher prices (1-2000 baht for a room if worth it), but resorts can be boring.
We can fly to krabi or Trang, but only have a week so I wouldn’t want to spend a ton of time in transit. Railey sounds nice, but maybe a bit beat-up? Phi phi I always assumed sucked. Lanta may be the best compromise, but perhaps a bit boring. South of that like Lipe or Muk, I think may not be worth the transport time...
I’ve been to Phangan and Tao 6 years ago and big Ko Chang 4 years ago. Loved both experiences, but it seems like you need to be more discerning now to avoid frat parties, 5star resorts or garbage. Any suggestions or resources would be great. I’ve been to Tezzas but the posts are so old I’m worried it’s out of date.
Thanks a bunch!
