Hello everyone,
I was wondering if anyone could give me some information on the current safety situation in Mali. I now that Bamako is supposed to be reasonably safe and the north, e.g. Timbuktu is basically off limits. But what about the rest of the country? Do you think it would be okay to visit the Dogon Plateau? I am particularily scared of kidnappings.
Any information would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you
Tabea

As above countries are imposing restrictions on travel or return for those who are travelling from an affected area. Part of this political, Pakistan closed its borders with Iran not China:) (we owe therefore to work we go). Even returning citizens are being put into the dreaded quarantine hopefully not a collapsing abandoned hotel. Some countries are restricting India such as Qatar and more are expected. Keep aware of a changing travel environment.
Kaliyug..

And so is India imposing restrictions on several countries..

Beware in Delhi of helpful strangers who strike up a conversation with you and then suggest the “Government office “ can help you with booking trips , accommodation and SIM cards etc.
My daughter and I unfortunately fell for this scam and were charged around £400 each more than what we booked actually cost.
A very stupid and expensive mistake that alas ruined our trip to India leaving us feeling very vulnerable and suspicious of even the nicest genuine people.
It happened on our first day there and we were approached another 4 times by different young men all offering the same advice during our time in Delhi.
This should be highlighted on the Website where you apply for your Visa.

Not sure if this is the correct place to post this as it pertains to the Lonely Planet website (not the message boards).

So let's say you're trying to view all the attractions in a state, like Maine for example. You click on "see all attractions" and even though the title header says "Maine attractions" it instead shows all attractions in the USA. This makes the site unusable as you literally have to scroll through thousands of attractions to view all of the Maine ones. This has been broken since the Lonely Planet website re-design. It worked fine before.

There have been a couple of reports of people getting novelty visitor stamps in their passports from places like Machu Pichu.

Don't

You run the risk of invalidating your passport. See here:

Hi all

does anyone know whether Gabon is imposing quarantine requirements on foreigners entering at Libreville airport?

I'm headed to Turkey in September, which I know is still a long way away, but does anyone know what the current entry procedures are for people coming from the US? I read somewhere that there are screenings and possibly a quarantine from people arriving from countries with a lot of cases, can anyone confirm or elaborate on that?

Hi guys

My partner and I are planning to visit Borneo for 2 weeks in Aug. We can't decide where to go so any tips would be helpful.

We are planning to climb Mt Kinabalu but so far thats it.

We are wanting a not tourist trek in the jungle to maybe stay overnight either in a cabin or long house. We are then wanting a perfect sandy beach to relax on at the end of our stay!!. We can fill in the rest but these two are the main places we are stuck on!

Thank you for a very confused traveller!!!
