I will be going to Buenos Aires as a solo traveller, and I was planning on staying in San Telmo, as it seems to be a charming place, close to a lot of things and LP seems to say it is safe. But now I read some reports saying that they have seen people be robbed with a knife and that the locals warn against going certain places. I am not the kind of person to go clubbing on my own, so I won't be wandering the streets late at night. But as a woman, I do worry if it would be unsafe to just walk in the area after dark? Or is San Telmo like most other areas in Buenos Aires?

It would be depending on what type of luxury? City? Beach? Jungle? Xmas/NYE week is the peak rates-

As part of a solo trip through central & eastern europe i was planning the following itinerary for PHungary. Please let me know if this is ok or should I change it in any way. I will be using public transport everywhere so would this be ok and also any day tours from any of the destinations below that are good?
Oct 9 - 17 - Budapest (Danube Bend + Puszta + Holloko + Szeged) - are we allowed to stay in Holloko overnight, would be an interesting experience if we are?
Oct 17 - 21 - Eger (Valley of beautiful women + Tokaj + local villages)
Oct 21 - 22 - Pecs (what is the best way to get from Eger to Pecs)
Oct 22 - 24 - Kesthely (Heviz + ceramics factory)
24th overnight to Prague

Just back from 2 days driving in Etosha, 5 adults in a Polo Vivo with temps up to 39C. Roads are ok if you go slowly, unlike some maniacs who seem to think that speed is the essence and to hell with other road users or the animals. Corrugations and small potholes are the most annoying, quite a few of the roads around Halali needed slow careful driving in a regular two wheel drive. I like Halali and the restaurant produced better food than I had experienced on other visits. Very packed, we could only get a one night in the park, any restcamp, camping or houses. Book early.

Hi everyone,
tomorrow I'll be traveling to Ko Tao and I'm looking for an accomodation.
Because I'm traveling solo, I'm mainly looking to meet new friends to explore the island, go diving and partying.
From what I've found, the Taco Shack hostel seems to be quite good.
In Chiang Mai, I've already had an awesome experience with the Stamps Backpackers Hostel, so something similar would be perfect.
Also, if you are in Ko Tao during the next days, feel free to drop me a message :)
Some additional information: I'm 18, from Germany and would be looking to meet people aged 18 to 30.

Ideally you should set up a private taxi for that leg. Do you want to share a day shoulder to shoulder with whoever? I haven't make that trek but will bet you a beer that the shared cab will stop in Havana, or you will be switching cars there.
If you are laid back and travelling solo, ignore this opinion.

Palawan is out of discussion because especially El Nido has become way too touristy for us (personal opinion). Port Barton could be an option, or maybe Coron, but for the moment we would like to explore multiple islands with a rather laid back atmosphere :)
