For the next three months I will be travelling around Sri Lanka in my own Tuk Tuk.First I am going to travel SLOWLY from Anuradhapura to Trincomalee and then along the coast to Jaffna. I will be camping or staying in low cost accommodation along the way. This is my third trip to this wonderful island. I am a mature (older) Aussie adventurer and world traveller. If you are interested in joining me let me know. Please be aware that I am in no hurry and no fixed time table. I should be leaving Anuradhapura with in a week from the 10th Feb.

Based in Skardu, 30 years ago, II travelled and trekked alone or with a porter/guide. Now, despite knees suffering from age ( osteoarthritis) I dream of seeing high mountains again. Realistically, perhaps I could do a few day treks or longer, exploring the valleys off KKH (travelled down it once from China). Obviously, I know to wear a shalwar kameez and to sit in the front of the bus, but I'd be grateful for recent first hand advice and recommendations on security , short treks, guide/porters, friendly budget accommodation there and in Rawalpindi/Islamabad. also on the road transport from Rawalpindi/Islamabad to Gilgit, in case the flights are cancelled long term.
Beginning March 1st, TransNica will begin a new route - Managua > San José - passing through San Carlos, and crossing the new bridge for continuing on to the CR capital.
Service will originate/terminate in the barrio of Quesada, where TICA and other international bus lines operate, without need to venture into Mayoreo bus terminal.
And remember - you read it first here on LP's Thorntree; not Trip Advisor!
Hi Everyone,
We are a family of 3, with my wife and my baby boy who will be 1 year old when we are traveling to Turkey during the end of May 2020. It is the first time we will be vacationing with our baby.
Our itinerary is as follows:
Fly from Bahrain to Istanbul - 4 nights in Istanbul - Fly to Dalaman, onwards to Fethiye - 4 nights in Fethiye/Calis - Back to Bahrain via Istanbul
Please help us with our queries below:
Istanbul:
1. We will be based in Fatih and plan to cover the sites by walking/red-bus tours. What are the sites that are not pram/stroller/push-chair friendly? Should we have to carry the baby carrier (back up) along as well?
2. Are there any recommended restaurants in Fatih or in walkable distance, where we can grab lunch and dinner that is easy on the pocket?
3. Will red bus hop-in/hop-off be a difficult proposition with a baby? Our understanding is that, cabs won't go everywhere and all the way and will not be very cheap.
Fethiye:
1. We will be based in Hirasnou. This is the relaxing part of our tour and we intend to basically lounge by the beach, explore the eateries, hamams, and sites by foot. Is there any area that is not kid friendly and we need to be aware of?
2. Fethiye, as per our understanding is a small beach town - should we need to carry all our "baby stuff" from Istanbul to Fethiye or we can bank on the local stores to provide for it?
3. We are also planning to do the 12 Islands tour - is it worth it? Is it doable with the baby?
4. Should we consider a day trip to Pammukale from Fethiye? Is Pammukale pram/stroller/push-chair friendly?
5. Like Istanbul, please suggest local eateries where we can have a heart full without burning the pocket
General: Since it's our first time with the baby, we are a little nervous. Any general tips w.r.t packing right, traveling right, getting the right hotel services, site visits, etc. will be really really helpful.
Best,
Neil

Hi
I would just like to ask about the practicability of hiring driver and car. Is it possible to organise this on the ground from place to place; I will book accommodation in advance but want to get a driver for each section ie Indore to Ahmedabad. Would this be cheaper than booking the whole thing in advance ( I was quoted 50000 for a 13 day trip with car driver). Any thoughts appreciated im a first timer, just got off the boat type....

Hi all, I've been reading about the Fetes des Masques that seem to happen yearly around November in the villages near Man, where dancers from surrounding villages compete and a winning dancer is chosen. Does anyone know when exactly this normally happens and how long the festival lasts? And the likely dates for 2020? Or will the dates only be known closer to the time? Any information about this or any experiences from anyone who has been before would be much appreciated, thanks!

Question regarding Al Disah,
Looking at Google Maps, I get directed to what looks like a small village only accessable from the west.
There is a what looks like canyon to the east of the village, which I presume is the Wadi.
Can you access that from the main road Tabuk to Al Ula/Medinah Saleh #8900 ?

Hello, I want to study French and will love to do it outside France and will love to do it in Senegal. Unfortunately, I don't seem to find much information online. Has anybody studied French in Africa? Are there many language schools there? Does it make sense to study French there? What about costs of living? Even if you have been there just for vacations or you live there, any tip would help :)
