boyfriend & i want to go somewhere that accomodates all/some our interests: fishing (him), yoga (me), hiking (both), kayaking (both), trapshooting or target shooting.....the location must be warm-ish (just coming out of cold NH winter). Must be last week of april. Is only the 2 of us. Must include at least one of each of these activities: kayaking or hiking, AND fishing or shooting. Would be thrilled if accomodations were not your typical hotel, but either private cabin, or something unusal (treehouse) or a resort where all activities on site or preplanned. Prefer 'off the beaten path' to "touristy and mainstream". Are looking to relax and recharge while being active & able to do several different actitivites w/out all the work of scheduling our own "tours" and the ability to do things together & separately. Since coming from NH....airline tix cost is a concern...but possibly entertaining (without any real knowledge of actual desitinations or resorts): georgia, N. Carolina, possibly FL (but we'd prefer diffferent state neither has been to), AZ & possibly TX? overall cost needs to be on the lower end of spectrum (cant do all out 5 *!). Looking for any suggestions or tips on sites to search? geographical desitinations as well as actual resorts or packages or outfitters.....THANKS

I was in Iran from mid-Jan until early Feb.

After the tumultuous events of January, life has returned to normal and the cities are peaceful again.

And due to the great exchange rate, Iran is value for money. However, I feel sorry for the poor Iranians who are suffering under the weight of illegal US economic sanctions.

USD $1 was worth over 13,000 toman at a currency exchange not far from Azad Square
(back in mid-Jan)

A flight from Tehran to one of the southern cities (70 minute duration) cost 310,000 toman on Zagros Airline.

I made a visit to the dentist and that cost me just over 500,000 toman for a filling and scaling.

I had two eyeglass lenses replaced and that cost 110,000 toman (for photo chromatic lenses)

I did not see many tourists - except for small groups of Chinese and a large Malaysian tour group in Esfahan and at IKA airport.

The weather was cold and it snowed when I arrived.

Mindful of the fact that many people were experiencing extreme hardship, I tipped between 2000 - 10,000 toman (US $0.15 to $0.75) at restaurants and in taxis.

Btw - I strongly recommend using Snap (the Iranian online cab service) It is much cheaper than a regular taxi. I did not have the app installed on my phone but people were happy to help when I needed a car. (Cash accepted)

Koh Kong appears to be magnificent as you all can read on numerous blogs.
But reading all of them it seems not clear if it's a good destination during the rainy season.... facilities are closed, road is inaccessible, etc

So can someone clarify it once and for all....
Is Koh Kong a good destination during the rainy season? Are most facilities open?
Can you get there during the rainy season? From PP, Shihanoukville? Or even Battambang?
By bus or private taxi? How long is the transfert?

thx

I saw a new concept of Sleeping Pods at many Australian Airports for travellers to rest. Is this concept available at any European Airport?

Hello,
I would need some advise from people who "recently" been travelling in NAMIBIA. We, a couple from Australia, in our early seventies, want to visit NAMIBIA (from Etosha to Fish River with the usual side-trips) in Sept/Oct 2020, for about 3 weeks. Camping is "out", joining a group-tour, as well. I have lived/worked in Southern Africa, (but not Namibia) and Kenya for 3.5 years, in the early seventies.
Found in travel-brochures, for a duration of 11 days, (for 2 passengers only) with driver/guide, accommodation, meals, tour costs for around AUD
11,500 pp; which works out at AUD 2,000 per day, for two. Of course, for this time-period it does not include Fish-River and, only goes as far South as SOSSUSVLEI. Another 7 days extra, at $ 2,000 pd, would include Fish River! Despite our age, we have a BUDGET too!
SELF DRIVE 4WD trip::
Been on to many Namibia Car Rentals and ended up with fairly much the same VEHICLE INSURANCE Twists:
Even, with extra TOP COVER, many of them exclude: Glass damage, Wind-blast and under body damage, Tyres, Rims, Bumpers, single vehicle accidents (even if you don't breach the rental contract conditions) etc. On TOP of that, all exclude damage to the CLUTCH. This is a sealed housing and no hirer could manipulate with it. Nor, would the clutch's condition internally inspected, each and every time the vehicle returns to its base!
A new clutch on a 4WD (Landcruiser, Hilux..) costs well over US $ 2,000, plus towing costs.
With all this "in mind", I am very reluctant to book/pay things there in advance, from Australia.
All our annual trips in ASIA, S.AMERICA, we always were able to arrange things, once/after arrival there with a number of operators.
QUESTION:
What chance/difficulties would I have to expect (not ALL can be booked out) by arriving in a Windhoek Hotel and searching for these above listed things we wish to do? Of course, "reasonable" accommodation nearby SPECIAL SPOTS are equally of importance.
Any recommendations/advise from your personal/similar experiences, within, reasonable our anticipated guidelines, would really be appreciated.
Thank You1
Regards,
Willy

Heard that it is under reconstruction. Any update upon this? I plan to visit this place in early April. Does anybody know as if the reconstruction is going to be done by that time?

Thanks in advance
