Hi guys,
Me and my SO are planning a trip two weeks from now, and we would love some recommendations.
We are landing and departing in Batumi, and we're planning to go on the second day to Tbilisi via train [Couldn't find any information on the night train.. is it still operating?].
Other than that, we're open for suggestions.

Thank you very much (:

Hey all!

So, for my father's 80th, he has brought my mom and I to a cruise in Brazil. I am on it now...(this is how much I plan in advanced...).

Would love any must sees in the following areas:
Parati, Brazil
Sao Paulo (Santos), Brazil
Porto Bello, Brazil
Cruise
Rio Grande, Brazil
Punta del Este, Uruguay
Montevideo, Uruguay
Buenos Aires (we'll have three days here...before we return to the States. I can't wait to see that big bookstore!)

I love art, music and culturally interesting things. I'm not one for a lot of beaches and nature stuff - (I don't have the yellow fever vaccine, and am a bit nervous about going anywhere without it.)

I thought I'd find some interesting travelers here, but pretty much everyone is over 70 years of age. I'm not kidding. My father is not interested in seeing most things on the cruise's planned itineraries, and my mom, who's 76, can walk quite a bit, but her feet hurt. So too much intense walking isn't doable.

I do not love cruises, I think they're a bit weird - but I accepted and am now seeing some beautiful waters, and trying to figure out how to make the most of the time off-ship, seeing anything authentic at all.

Any help/tips would be greatly appreciated. It's clear all the cruise itineraries are just tourist traps.

thanks so much,

Hello friendly travelers.
In doing some research for my week-long fall trip to Paris, I was looking into the Canal St. Martin area for a visit. I was wondering if an afternoon is enough time to enjoy a stroll or even a barge/boat ride. Thanks for any updates on the area and bar/restaurant recommendations!
Thank you!

Fellow travelers

I am headed to Barbados in March with my elderly father (80+) and would like to rent a car.

The problem we have... my father is not able to drive and I have not held a UK drivers licence for more than a year.

I am 30 years old and have driven on a provisional licence for the past two years. We're from a pretty rural part of the UK and I've been his full-time carer for a while, so I act as his chauffeur when he needs to get from point A to point B.

All of the rental companies that I've looked at require a minimum of one year driving visible on licence.

Has anybody here been in a similar situation? And successfully rented on the island?

This is totally our fault but hoping there is a way around because we may have to cancel our trip IF we can't make this happen somehow, someway!

Thanks,

Harry

But ctrip, which is usually pretty reliable on this sort of detail, says:

"Or you can pick up your train tickets at an authorized train ticket office (火车票代售点) — each city has several located in downtown locations outside of a train station — for a CNY 5 fee."

https://www.trip.com/trains/how-to-collect-the-train-tickets.html

I think a different rule may apply if you buy tickets through your personal 12306 account, not through an agent.

Again your real problem is the hot hazy burnt out weather of the dry season. You don't seem to get that. Or you want certainty, in the real world, Mongo, CERTAINTY is an not option, sorry. That is based on more than 18 years’ experience. Sure there are anomalous years, it’s the weather for Christ sake.
A number of posters claim the monsoon hits early and with force coming off the Bay of Bengal. And in the coastal areas of Myanmar. Could be I would not know. However a number of years back I was Myanmar, June-early July , and Mandalay, Bagan, Inle Lake, Kengtung were still in the grip of the hot season. Smoggy smoky air a burned out appearance. It could have used a LOT more rain. That was my experience.
Someone else on that last post stated “It was pretty dark and gloomy with non-stop continuous rain during my business trip back in July.:” I assume they meant Rangoon but do you remember the kids in the cave – right that happened in July last year. The monsoon came in strong that month and then again in September, It is the weather, you can’t predict it. However, from May through July beautiful monsoon weather pattern, and a good part of Sept/October. Blue sky white puffy clouds that will build up and have a thunderstorm in afternoon. “Generally”. That is a stereotypical Monsoon weather and you will note this in no way is the SAME weather pattern as rainy weather in the UK or say Seattle US. You are in the tropics, Mongo
My opinion as a photographer is the wet, the monsoon season is a far better time to take pictures than the dry season. Not even a question. Given what other posters mentioned I would stay away from coastal region IE Ngapali, if you can and visit inland and upland, but as I have repeatedly said I do not consider it a major issue. Now saying all that, it’s the weather, no one can predict what is going to happen.

I mean i am concerned about cloudy horrible days with no sunlight.

My god where did you come up with this bizarre freakish notion anyway, comic books?

Like sands through the hourglass, so are the days of our pandemic.

I currently live in America and bought an outbound flight to Beirut and inbound flight from Tel Aviv (single round trip).
I plan to start my travel first in Lebanon due to the fact that if I've been to Israel, Lebanon will not let me in.
My itinerary is as follows:
Lebanon - Jordan - Israel

In the Lebanon immigration, I plan to show my outbound ticket to Amman.
In this case, would they have access to the fact that I have a flight scheduled from Tel Aviv to US?
I'm guessing that this would be problematic if caught.
Again, I have New York - Beirut / Tel Aviv - New York as a single round trip via Turkish Airlines.

In February, my boyfriend and I want to visit the Iguazu Falls and do a small road trip. We thought of flying from Buenos Aires to the Iguazu falls, spending a night or two there and then driving back to Buenos Aires by car to fly back home. In total we would have 7 days for the entire trip.
Is this a good idea? We love the idea of a road trip, but is the route from iguazu to buenos aires nice?

1 what are the possibilities of renting a car in a town near the falls? How much would it be to rent it for 4 days? And would it be possible to then drop the car in Buenos aires?

2 is it possible to rent a camper or a sleeper car, and what are the options of camping in argentina? Is it safe?

3 is gas expensive in argentina? What should we consider for such a big trip?

4: is 3 to 4 days enough for the road trip? And what are nice towns to visit or parks to see?

Any other information is very welcome, I would love to hear some tips cause I have no experience in Argentina or with road trips :)

Sorry but that is terrible advice. It's about 8Km of walking minimum, and takes a long time due to all the overpassess and stairs/escalactors you have to walk.

Sorry, but I can do 8 km in four hours in my sleep. I agree it can take longer if you wish to really dawdle, but it's not that far ... and usually you're so interested in the craziness you're seeing along the way, that it all passes by very quickly.

But overall - to reduce the haul - I recommend two nights of strolling ... no more is needed. Have a night of strolling, a night out at the Grand Canyon, and then another night of strolling the Strip ... we've done that a couple of times and the pace is just about perfect.

We can provide a lot of additional texture when you decide your overall shape.
