I’ve never been to the carribean, but will be during above dates. I have a guide book, but like to run my ideas with Thorn Tree first. I’ll be doing this with hostels as I’m a budget lady. May be renting a car in some locations when bus service is not available. I don’t know where to start with the islands.. my main interest are snorkeling beaches...not a good hiker.as I’m in my 70’s. If you were me what would you plan.? Thanks in advance!

Hi all,
I've been trying to narrow down a location for a honeymoon in June 2020. Most places I've looked at have pros and cons and obviously for our honeymoon I'm trying to find the "perfect" place.
We will go for 7 nights, and budget for accomodation will probably be around 2500 euros. We are looking for somewhere with lots of great Italian food, a town that we can walk around, by the sea with a nice beach preferably, and a few places to explore on foot/short drive would be a bonus.
We started looking at Positano/the Amalfi coast and Sorrento. Hotel rates in Positano next June have been hard to find out but I think it is maybe out of our budget. Also we want to be based in one place and just relax with maybe a day trip or 2, which is why Sorrento seemed like it could be a good option.
I've looked at locations in Sicily quite a lot as well with Taormina possibly being the best fit for us. "Too touristy" seems to be the main criticism of Taormina and other Italian holiday resorts but maybe it should be ignored, some places are popular for good reasons right?
If anyone has any advice or recommend areas to look at I would massively appreciate it!

Hey,
I know this question is asked a lot but it's mostly asked about a specific region. Me and my boyfriend will be backpacking through central America next year. We are planning our trip right now but we don't know what to think of the safety there because we read all these things about Honduras, El Salvador,... being unsafe but we don't know if this is also true in practice. My question is, which cities or places are the most unsafe and are not worth taking a risk (because they're not that great to visit or because they really are too dangerous)? We don't have the biggest budget and we haven't backpacked like this before so we could use some general tips too.
Ow and if you have tips on what we really do have to visit, that would also be nice!
Thanks for helping us out!

Hi. I’m going to start a cycling trip on the 17th of April in Bukhara and return from Tashkent on the 6th of May. My itinerary should be: Bukhara Samarkand Penjikent Khojand Fergana Tashkent (maybe Turkistan) and places around Shymkent and back to Tashkent.
Would appreciate any comments about: some places or seights on the road or near mentioned places, quality of the roads, budget places to stay, anything else what you got in your mind. Regards Robin
Maybe you should go on a tour with a company like G Adventures, Intrepid or On the Go tours. There are many more companies doing budget level tours, too many to list. It costs 2 or 3x as much as traveling by yourself and arranging your own transport. But the group leader arranges everything, and sometimes could arrange someone to carry your baggage, for a small fee of course. Typically the people on those tours are expected to move their own bags.
It's always very sociable. You'll have dinner companions every night if you want.

Good afternoon
We have splurged on a cruise to Hawaii visiting Honolulu, Maui, Hilo, Kona and Kauau
Could anyone please tell me please if it possible to do sightseeing ourselves on a budget?
We like nature and the beach for swimming.
Is there anything we should not miss?
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thank you guys!
Yes, I’m on a tight budget. I haven’t checked the price of flying there but from what you mentioned there are no direct flights from Mandalay.
As I said I am ok with a journey from hell if that’s all I can afford. So do you know about direct busses from Mandalay? Do I HAVE TO change in Pyay? Thank you for the link, silverswim, but I wish I don’t have to go to Bagan first.
I am asking around in agencies but nobody can tell me how to do that. Any info on buses from Mandalay (or even Pyin Oo Lwin) to Ngapali?
Thanks!
