Hey you good things
Well, after 27 tries at booking a room on the internet I have finally secured accommodation for 25 straight in my fav' hotel in Samui!! Yeah!
OK, 25 days to detox, swim, bake, read a couple of books, thank God for Thailand and it's beauty.
However, what else can I do that's will not break the budget (the accommodation has night on done that already!).

Are there any day tours I simply MUST do?
Cannot stand the elephant thing, did the butterfly thing, saw the beautiful waterfalls.

Hi, beginning from Bangkok what is the most efficient route to travel to Phuket, Koh Samui, Koh Phi Phi, and Krabi? We're planning on using train for the majority of (if not all) transportation and are fully prepared to spend many half days on trains. We need to end in Bangkok again as well.

Hope that made sense - all I'm asking for is something like "Bangkok -> Phuket -> Koh Samui -> Koh Phi Phi -> Krabi -> Bangkok" (I just made that up). Thanks in advance!

I am new to the world of forums. Exiting!!

I have read at www.thongnaipau-magazin.com about a new (since 2011) connection between f.e. Koh Phangan (Tong Sala) and Bangkok (Don Muang airport) via Chumphun airport with a combo offer by Nok Air and Lomprayah (Ferrys). It takes 5 h.(because of the speed catamaran) and costs about 25 -30 $ one way.

  1. Does it really exist?

  2. Has anybody done it yet? How was it? How to buy it in advance?

  3. If not, i guess Ferry/Air Asia from…

You'll be disappointed with Koh Samui after Koh Pha ngan. There are many lovely laid back beaches on KPG. Simply Enak has never been there or didn't venture out of the party zone which is Haad rin and has a totally crappy beach. If you only went there you would never want to go to KPG again. Some good beaches are Than Sadet which has a waterfall out the back, Bottle Beach and Thong Nai Pan Yai (not noi.) I would choose one island and settle in for the week.

I stayed in a delightfully small, cheap hut (40BT) on Ban Tai beach on the north shore of Samui in 2003.

You will be hard pressed to find something that cheap these days. The cheapest possible place I have ever found on those islands is on Koh Phangan. I believe the bungalows are 80 baht per night, but I wouldn't stay there.

It seems like it has undergone a lot more development since then? Either that, or the smaller places that I stayed in last time aren't doing the…

Good day! We are off to Europe from NZ in a couple of weeks and decide to have a few days stop over in Koh Samui.

Back in our backpacking days, Samui was a jumping off point for the ferry to Phangnan and Tao and we never really spent much time there, apart from a couple of nights on the main Chwang (?) strip.

Anyway, now we have a 15 month toddler and my wife will also be 5 months pregnant, our whole dynamic has changed (and our budget).

So, I imagine there are some good deals going at the…

Hi Lisaminx,

For Samui I can recommend to spit through my Samui info and weather blog, first below. It has lots of information about things to do, where to eat etc.

On Koh Tao I would definately recommend taking a diving course.

You can buy Lomprayah tickets online. And their office is on Soi Rambuttri rather than KSR.

Hello all.. Currently planning our 15 day (roughly) honeymoon through south east Asia. I don't know if I am trying to squeeze to many locations in such a short period of time. Flying from NYC to Bangkok on august 18th (landing bkk 08/20 12am). Looking to stay in Bangkok 08/20-8/24 (4nights) see the city etc. Then fly to Suranthai (Asia air) and make our way (ferry) to Koh Phangan 08/24, and staying in Koh Phangan 08/24-08/28 (3 nights), then over to Koh Samui for 3 nights 08/28-08/31. From Koh…
