I generally give them a call. I check availability on the trains. I reserve something on the phone. This can be picked up and paid for at any station. Hualumphong is close to my work, so I go there. I then request a 'joint ticket' when I am at the counter paying.

Chaweng has the nicest sand. The sand at Lamai is more grainy. However Lamai beach is also very pleasant and quieter. The town around Lamai is a lot sleazier than Chaweng though. Lots of gogo bars. Chaweng is really busy but still nice.

I stayed at Thongtakian Resort this past August - real nice resort with accommodation from flashpacker thru midrange on one of the more laid back and very nice beaches on Samui - with easy access to the action on Lamai and Chawang. Got a bunch more info and pix on the SAMUI page HERE

I originally wanted to stay at Jungle Club having seen the comments on tripadvisor, travelfish etc - but Lady Tezza wanted the beach. So I hiked up and had a look. Fantastic - next time The Lady can use the rimless…

Could someone help me find the 'Krua F&B' restaurant in Chaweng beach, Samui?

The address is 128/46 Moo 1. But I cannot find it and no one seems to know.

There supposedly have great resort level Thai food but at low prices.

Thanks!

I am wondering if I am leaving it too tight

In my opinion, yes you are. You're leaving very little room for error if the ferry is late. The Lomprayah catamaran also leaves Ko Tao at 3pm and is a bit quicker than Seatran, so it should give you another 20 minutes or so to play with. However even that might not be enough.

My personal view is that it's not worth risking missing international flights for the sake of a few extra hours on the beach. Far better to relax and allow a little extra time!

This piece of info has just popped up on my Facebook.
The Travel Lab which is part of Intrepid has just released a survey where the prize is 5 Days in a resort on Koh Samui. Its not a group trip. Just accommodation on the beach but its free. Diving Survey
Would be worth entering for anyone heading to Thailand before June 30 next year. Only takes 5 minutes.
Thought it might be of interest to those on this branch.
Enjoy.

Chiang Mai?/ One of my favourite places. We've never trekked or done elephant rides either. I actually find it easier to shop there than anywhere else. And that goes for furniture, jewellery, clothes, shoes, etc.

Hi Guys.

3 questions;

1) I'm flying from London to BKK on BA then transfering to a bangkok air flight to Koh samui. Does this transfer take long? will I have to exit the airport then re-enter at a domestic terminal? I also want to store some bags, I doub this will be a problem.

2)From Q 1) If I don't have to leave the international terminal at BKK will there be any problems getting my 1 month visa at koh samui?#

3)Best place to stay on Samui to catch the Catarmaran to Koh Tao?

Thanks for…
