3486 results for desert tours treks, marrakech, fez, merzouga

Hi,
It is my first time in Morroco.
I have already booked the airplane tickets (Marrakesh and Tangier) and Riads.
Here is my plan:

Arriving by airplane.
4 days:
- Marrakesh
(considering a trip do Essaouira or El Jadida and another trip to Ouzoud Waterfalls)

1 day:
- Picking a rented car and driving to Ouarzazate, stoping by Aít Ben Haddou along the way.
- Slepping in Ouarzazate

1 day:
- Driving to Merzouga (stoping by Todra and Dadés)
- Slepping in the desert in Merzouga.

3 days:
- Driving to Fez
- Sleeping in Fez
- Fez
- Sleeping in Fez
- Fez or visit to Meknes
- Sleeping in Fez

2days:
- Driving to Chefchaouen (stopping by Moulay Idriss and Volubilis)
- Sleeping in Chefchaouen.
- Hiking to Akchour Waterfall
- Sleeping in Chefchaouen.

1 day:
- Driving to Hercules Caves and then Tangier Airport, delivering the car and waiting for the 5am airplane.

Questions:
1- Do you think that it is a doable itinerary?
2- If you had to choose between staying in Marraquesh another day, going to Essaouira or going to El Jadida... What would you do?
3- My return flight is at 5am... so check-in should start at 3am. Is there any problem spending the night in Tangier Airport?
4- I haven't booked the car yet. I usually use websites that provide full insurance coverage. In case the Riad owner gets me a good price, is it safe to rent it from a less known/local brand?

Hey! Are you still looking for people? I'm going to be solo-traveling in Fez starting January 8th and would love to join a group for a Fez => Marrakesh Sahara trip. See my post here: https://www.lonelyplanet.com/thorntree/forums/travel-companions/topics/marrakech-to-fez-for-a-week-in-morocco

The itinerary I'm thinking of is from "Rough Tours" (very well rated on Trip Advisor):
Likely going to be leaving Fez on January 10th. Cost depends on the # of people going but quote for 2 people is 800 euros (so 400 per person). Tentative schedule for it is:

It's a 4-day / 3-night trip with a company called "Rough Tours" in Morocco. The itinerary is as follows:
* Day 1: Fes - ifrane - Midelt - Ziz valley, 7 to 8 hours include stops and lunch.http://maisondhotessahara.com/
* Day 2: trekking in Ziz valley - Merzouga. 2 hours drive. camel ride and night in a camp
* Day 3: Merzouga - Toudgha Gorges - Dades valley 7 hours include stops and lunch. http://www.xaluca.com/en/hotel/dades/
* Day 4: Dades valley - Ouarzazette - Ait Ben Haddou kasbah - High Atlas mountain - Marrakech. 8 to 9 hours include stops and lunch

They've quoted me for 2 people it's 800 euros (400 per person) but gets cheaper with more people added on.

29/12/2019 BA + In the afternoon Bus to Bariloche
30/12/2019 Bariloche: chill in the afertnoon
31/12/2019 Bariloche: Refugio Frey + Refugio Jakob
01/01/2020 Villa La Angostura: Circuito Chico + Ruta de los 7 lagos by car
02/01/2020 Bariloche: Ruta de los 7 lagos by car
03/01/2020 Bus to El Chalten
04/01/2020 El Chalten: Chill + Lago Torre
05/01/2020 El Chalten: Laguna del Los Tres + Laguna Sucia + Laguna Capri
06/01/2020 El Chalten: Laguna Toro, maybe 'till Paso del Viento

10/01/2020 BA
11/01/2020 BA

Sepcific questions:

  • which stops during Ruta de los 7 Lagos by car?
  • what to do after Perito Moreno in Calafate if I have a car? And the next day during the morning?
  • daytrip otuside BA?

P.S. I chose the buses because the flights are already too expensive
P.P.S. I like to hike and, as I am a trail/ultrarunner, I like to run as well :) (weather conditions permitting)

Thanks

Simone

Hi fellow trekkers.
I'm planning an independent trek to EBC starting from Jiri or Shivilaya and heading to EBC and Kallar Pattar.
What's the best currency to take, Nepalise rupees or US $? Or a combination of both?

Regards.
Alan.

PS; anyone else doing this trek next Jan/Feb?!

In recent years the Bali guide of Lonely Planet (and a few other travel guide publishers) has been recast as the "Bali and Lombok" guide.

There is no way that Lombok deserves equal billing with Bali in the book's title.

Would you retitle the New York City guide "New York City and Newark"? I doubt it.

I can understand including Lombok coverage in the Bali guide, but to give Lombok equal billing generates all kinds of reader expectations that Lombok cannot meet.

https://www.marrakech-desert-trips.com/tours/fes-to-marrakech-desert-tour/

thats the tour I found online :) i dont think its fake

I don't think this is fake either, the tour exists. However, you do know that unless you are a very large party, that you may be crammed in with other people you don't know to keep the costs down.

If you insist on a private tour, it's ridiculously expensive - or if they can't find other people to go on the same day as you.

It's simply too short. You really need 3nights and 4 days. And you can do it far more cheaply by self drive or public transport.

The South part of the country will be much more pleasant than the North regarding the weather.
Try to have enough time to go to Merzouga.
A organised tour from Fes is not the only option but if you choose a such one, you must have at least 4 days.

Thanks Mclarjih. Perhaps one day I will visit those interesting places in nature in Morocco.

I wanted to list a few places that i found to be nice and peaceful here in Morocco:

El Badii palace (Marrakesh)
Al Attarine Madrasa (Fes) (nice acoustics in one of the rooms)
Lixus ruins and Mzora stone ring (near Asilah)
Hercules cave (Tanger)

Not all of these places are suitable to actually sit down in quiet due to amount of people, but they are worthwhile to visit nonetheless.
