Forget Prague you don't have enough time, 3 nights Budapest 1 nights in Bratislava 3 nights in Vienna would be a better itinerary. On budget probably OK but I have no idea on your tastes or what you want to do.

Spent the last weekend of the 2018 CSL in Dalian so that I could see what was, effectively, the relegation play-off between Dalian Yifeng and my own, beloved, Changchun Yatai. Dalian was one of just three CSL grounds I haven't visited; the other 2 being Guizhou Hengfeng (Who have been relegated) and Chongqing Lifan/Dangda. Both of which are a LONG way to go for a weekend of football out of Beijing. Next year; Wuhan Zali and Shenzhen FC will be in the CSL so there'll be 3 new grounds for me to visit again.

There are several stadia in Dalian. Dalian Stadium (Where the football is played) is not That far from the North Railway Station and, it seems, that they do have shuttle buses running from North Station to the ground (I know this because I caught one back to the station from the ground last night for 1 RMB). BUT... I didn't know about the shuttles when I was on my way to the ground and there is no public transport that runs passed the place. Public buses go in the general direction of the stadium (1 RMB) but they turn off so you have to decamp and walk the last kilometer or so. Furthermore, when you actually get to the complex, you've still go a fair way to go until you get the the football ground (There are about 3 stadia in the complex). I was running a bit late and didn't see many scalpers so bought a ticket off the first one I did see (Paying over the odds) and there weren't that many more around yesterday but face value is 50 to 60 RMB each.

The atmosphere inside Dalian Stadium is great. Easily the best I've experienced in China: and the place was almost full, too (But that may have had something to do with it being the last game of the season and a relegation play-off against a near neighbour).

Getting back to the North Station was a breeze in the shuttle bus (Again 1 RMB). By the looks of things, they are extending the subway out to the Football Stadium. There are maps on the ticket machines showing the intended route, which will make things much easier. But I can't that line being finished for a few years yet.

By the way: The 2018 CSL was won by Shanghai SIPG. Second was Guangzhou Evergrande, third Shandong Lvneng, fourth Beijing Guoan. 1st and 2nd get automatic entry into next years Asian Champions League. #rd goes into a play off BUT there is one more automatic place up for grabs and that goes to the winner of the CFA Cup ; a two-legged affair, the first leg of which is next weekend (I think) and that will be contested between Beijing Guoan and Shandong Lvneng so if Lvneng emerge victorious they will get automatic entry to the ACL and Guoan will be in the play-off (The reverse in Guoan win, obviously). Wuhan and Shenzhen come up to replace Guizhou and my own, beloved Yatai (Moan! Wail! Gnash of teeth)!

In Division one: Xinjiang Tianshan and another Dalian team (Transcendence) have been relegated. There is also, for some unknown reason, a relegation play-off between the team that finished 3rd from bottom (Meizhou Mexican Techand) and the team who, I assume, finished 3rd in division 2 (Shaanxi Changan from Xian) which saw Meizhou retain its Division 1 status after winning 3 - 2 over 2 legs and extra time.

Perhaps those who travel for longer on lower budget and don't have itineraries and stay in basic accommodation and dislike beaches with development and resorts could be described as traditional style budget travelers . They are under threat and lost a lot of their former range. They deserve our sympathy.

Do we have any statistics to support this? It might be the case there are now more backpackers than there has ever been - wandering to ever more parts of the globe. I don't know - just speculating.

Hi I am a foodie budget traveller and wonder which places to choose for day trips from Beirut.

I have no interest in beaches and beverages but food and ancient vibes and architectures.
My list is Saida, Tripoli, Dier Al Qamer, Byblos, Baalbek and Tyre but obviously no time to visit all of them.

I think going to 2 of these locations using 2 full days would be realistic as I dont want any fuss and rush.

Any suggestion for where to pick would be appreciated thanks.

Im a solo traveller planning to go on a small group trip to Omo Valley around 11/12 January for 5 days.
Anyone interested?
There seems to be an already organised trip and 2 extra persons joining the trip seems to be a more favourable budget option.
Cheers

There is so much to do, can you access a guidebook? Your question is very general, as you dont mention budget, how many total you have time of year and interest???

There are shuttles at GUA that can take you to any hotel in Antigua, 45 minutes and $10, unless arriving very late.

This is great will defo have a look at your blog. going to be working on a budget of about 20 pounds a night for accomodation probably. Will be great to hear any recommendations though as with the odd cheaper night here and there I might be able to stay somewhere slightly more expensive if it sounded really cool!

With that kind of budget, I think you're limited to a hostel or cheap hotel in the Centro. I normally reccommend Condesa or Roma as they're relaxing and leafy areas with a ton of great restaurants and cafes, some parks, and loads of charm. However the only budget place i know of in those areas is the Capital O Hotel Monarca. I think there are some hostels. The Centro is also a great place to stay. It's a little chaotic during the day and it can be quiet at night but it is the heart of the city.
If you're on a strict budget, then the Metrobus is your best bet for getting into town from the airport. It is a somewhat express bus that goes direct to the Centro Historico. There are authorized taxis that are safe and efficient. I think it's about MX$250 to the Centro. The Metro requires changing lines a couple of times, depending where you're going.

Hello!

My partner and I will be travelling to Colombia in Sept/Oct (3 weeks total) and have heard mixed things about visiting Tayrona. It sounds and looks beautiful, however the idea of staying overnight in a (from what I've read) cramped hammock area or dirty tent do not appeal to us. The ecolodges within the park are too expensive for our budget and also do not seem to be worth the price. I am wondering if staying on one of the properties outside of Tayrona and then doing a day there would be better. It would look something like this

Oct 4: Travel from Minca --> Santa Marta --> accommodation close outside Tayrona (ideally within 15-30 minutes)
Oct 5: Day trip to Tayrona, getting there as early as possible and staying as late as possible, head back to outside the park in the evening to our accommodation
Oct 6: Travel from Tayrona --> Santa Marta --> Cartagena (we have a flight to Lima the next day on oct 7)

Does this sound reasonable? I know lots of people say the beauty of Tayrona comes after the day trippers leave, but I have read such mixed reviews on staying overnight in the park. If you think this sounds okay, do you have any reccos of places to stay nearby? Our budget could extend to $150 CDN or $375000 COP a night for two people.

Thank you!

Depends...where you want to go exactly!

There are certainly taxis, though I wouldn't describe them as 'cheap' (though again, that depends on you, your experience and your budget).Public transport is not great, though it exists to some places.
