My heart goes out to everybody affected by the flooding in South Thailand. We were planning to fly to Koh Samui on Sunday and spent about a week on Koh Samui and Koh Phanang. Since this is not an option considering the conditions right now I am looking for alternatives. We were looking forward to spending some quite time on the beach just relaxing, etc. I am now looking at the Ko Chang, Ko Kood area since they seem not to be affected by the weather as of right now, however we are leaving for…
Should I book this in advanced? I'll be there for Song kran and FMP on Pan-Gnan and do a little island hopping from April 8th based from Samui before going. I have something arranged for when I arrive in Bangkok the 5th and have acc till 7th. Would like something cheap if you have any suggestions
Hey there
a few of us are heading over for the full moon party for new years (11 mates and I)
anyone know what the situation is for water taxis?
getting back from phangan to samui, our flight leaves at 7.45am, im assuming ferries wont be running at that time in the morning, so whats the change of water taxis or some other form of transport?
Jess
There are no organised bus or ferry trips to Samui.
It is a long long journey. The fastest way is flying from Trat via Bangkok but this can only be done with Bangkok Airways and not cheap.
I would imagine your best way is to travel to pattaya 1st. This can be done on vip bus our government bus Trat - Chantaburi - Chonburi - Pattaya and is a full days travel due to waiting time for next bus
Am interested to read about this one as i have been asked before and could not give an answer
A tip about Samui. I wanted to book a place that was quoting B2000 a night in CHaweng on the net. I called up and talked them into dropping it to B1400 per night. Wibble

Koh Chang is beginning to get wet..........
Lomprayah catamaran timings are 8.30 and 12.30 from Maenam via Koh Phangan to Ko Tao. Go for the night to Phalarn Inn what is about 100 mtr from Lomprayah pier. The airport mini bus service counter is in terminal 1. The transfer cost to Maenam should be the same as to Lamai, 150 Baht, but about this I am not sure.
Hi all,
In May I will be in a secluded health spa on Ko Samui. Before heading there I would like to stay in a pretty, quiet resort near the beach, but not too far from restaurants, shops, some nightlife either. Ideally I would stay in a quiet resort, but being able to walk 20 mins or so and exerperience some 'action'.
I have been researching and I was thinking: a quiet part of Lamai or Thong Takhian area.
(Last year I stayed in Bo Phut, which is close to Fisherman's Village, I'm looking for…
Full Moon party rocks and you usualy find alot of backpackers hanging out at Koh Panganan on a more permanent basis! Phuket was cool, but far too touristy and too many resorts for me! There are plenty of cool places to go, but too many resorts for my liking!
If you go to Koh Samui and you like to party, stay at Arts (i think that's it's name!) the place is awesome fun, indoor pool, fire works on the beach!
