The best spot for diving (IMO) is Ko Tao which is just a ferry ried away from Phagnan... Check out Ban's Diving resort http://www.bansdivingresortkohtao.com/ ... It's pretty nice, and lot's of other dive resorts and companies all over the island...

Hi, I will arrive at Koh Samui airport at 14:30. Is there a way to reach either Than Sadet or Thong Nai Pan beaches on Koh Phan-gan the same day without hiring either a private boat or taxi? Also any input on choosing between Plaa's and Mai Pen Rai Bungalows at Than Sadet would be appreciated. Thanks.

Koh Samet is to the east of bangkok and the other islands you mention are to the south.... You'll need to be a very good swimmer if you are going to be able to avoid going through Bangkok.

A friend and I are heading to Thailand in July and whilst we have been before I was hoping some of you may have recommendations on where to stay in Koh Samui & Koh Phangan. We have stayed in Koh Samui before at the Nora Beach Spa and Resort which was great but would like something a little closer to Chaweng and just to experience somewhere new. You should buy your boat ticket (or if you already have a ticket just check in with them and they will organise the bus to boat for you)from the counter at the airport. Hi, I'm planning a holiday for my family (hubby and kids 16 and 12) most likely to Koh Samui (staying fishermans village area). Can anyone tell me how to get to Koh phangan without doing an 'organised' tour? Also, I've heard there's a nice walk to do on Koh phangan up Khao ra. Can anyone tell me about that? Ie. how to get to the start etc?
Also, just looking for things to do there so we're not just sitting round all week. Is it easy enough when you get there to go and check out the jungle etc…
