My opinion is that although those islands seem tiny on a map, they have plenty to offer for several days. I appreciate that some people travel faster than others, but why spend precious time commuting among islands rather than enjoying the islands their selves? I would make a point to spend at the very least 4 nights on each island, no need to add more destinations.

Now if those should be the islands you mention or others... It's a personal call. Personally I would tend to replace at least…

Re FERRY--, Strongly advise you take larger ferry... children get fretful in travel, and on a large ferry you can walk up and down the aisles, sit in cafes, go outside on deck, etc. In fast-ferry you are confined to your seat, almost no "public areas", and no outside deck. Please DO get "reserved economy" (also called "Aircraft seats -- although they are much larger and capacious than today's airplane seats!). This does not limit you to your seat, you may sit outside when you want, wherever…

Once upon a time when I was living on Naxos town and wanted the beach, I was jumbing on a bus and getting to Plaka or very occasionaly on a bus to one of the southern beaches. When I wanted a quick swim or a beach break but was bored to jumb on the bus, I was simply walking to St George which was an averrage beach but not mediocre.
When I was living on Naoussa and wanted a beach I was jumbing on a bus to Santa Maria or a boat taxi to Monastery or occasionaly a bus to Golden beach. When I wanted…

Santorini is NOT about beaches (they are black volcanic grit) ... you will have to go to other nearby islands for that. In high season it's impossible to avoid "busy tourist area" unless you go to far-flung islands that are hard to reach. You cannot have what you want at the time ou are going. However, there are an abundance of good sandy beaches on the nearby islands of Naxos, Paros, Antiparos. Sifnos has a lot of good beaches and is not as jammed since it does not have an airstrip…

Your best chance to find something for €50/night or less will be by using the filter system at www.booking.com
I just made a trial booking inquiry for Paros for September 21-28 and focused on the main village of Parikia. There were several that popped up, including one that I stayed in a few years ago, Alexandra's Rooms. The beach is right across the street. The room was bright, clean and had fantastic water pressure and LOTS of hot water. There was a fridge, hot plate and coffee maker. I…

I"ll bet that offer you to work on a fishing boat was not in Greece ... those fishermen go out long before dawn, and it would not be a treat, their boats are small and they work hard, not a tourist thing.

One nice thing about Naxos is that there is a company based Naxos/Paros that offers quite a variety of day excursions ... https://visit-cyclades.com/day-cruises-naxos-cruises/ browse their website, they have schooners that cruise to the small islands south of Naxos, or to Antiparos .... if…

For 1st time in Europe, I'm planning to take my iPhone with a roaming package from Australian carrier TPG....will be visiting Syros, Antiparos, Santorini & possibly a few others nearby for approximately 2 - 3 weeks. What is the coverage/signal strength like on these islands?

As for internet access, I guess it depends on the places I'll be staying - hoping to use Air BnB (or even locals meeting the ferry, offering rooms/apartments) rather than hotels. Generally, how easy is to get "free wi-fi"…

Santorini

Ignore all the predictible Santorini "nay-saying". There's plenty to see and do there for a week or more. The beach villages are lively, the water beautiful, the two archaeological sites are interesting and the caldera views are beyond spectacular. Santorini has hostels: Youth Hostel Anna, Caveland Hostel. There is also a campground that offers a few rooms, and there's a large pool there: Santorini Camping.

All the Greek islands have something to offer you. I suggest you focus on the…

My husband and I are planning a 2 week trip to Greece from August 29th. We've previously visited Santorini, Amorgos, Naxos and Serifos, and I visited Paros and Antiparos over 10 years ago. We're hoping for a relaxing trip on not overly crowded islands if possible, 2 or 3 islands maximum, preferably those with a nice mix of culture/sites and beaches. We don't drive so won't be renting a car or scooter. Any ideas of islands off of the beaten path and any recommendations would be much…

I'm no expert on Syros ... not being a Greek ... but can only give my impressions as an American, who has enjoyed beaches all over the cycladic Isles: in Naxos, Paros, Antiparos, Mykonos, Amorgos, sifnos, serifos, milos et etc. I'd always wanted to see Syros, particularly for the impressive Capitol Plaza in Hermopolis. So at the end of one of my trips, I reserved 3.5 days for Syros.

What I discovered is that the island seems to be about 95% Greek -- residents AND vacationers -- and frankly is…
