Hi there,
I had a wonderful time on Phi Phi in the spring of 2004 which of course was the year of the Tsunami.
Has anybody been there this season (2007) and would like to comment on the experience?
I have a guidebook which is highly negative about visits to Phi Phi at this time and maintains that the infrastructure is far from having been restored.

Maybe there is somebody out there who visited Phi Phi recently and also had also known it in pre-tsunami times.

Your comments and suggestions are highly…

I'm trying to arrange travel to Ko Phi Phi in January, but it seems that
1. the last ferries to Phi Phi from Phuket and Krabi are at 1pm and 3pm respectively (it's not clear how reliable these times are, as they differ from one website to another),
2. a good fraction of the flights into these two airports arrive too late to be able to rely on getting to the ferry terminal in time for the last ferry, and
3. the only option other than the regular ferry is a very expensive speedboat or seaplane.

Can…

Lomprayah catamaran from Ko Samui to Ko Tao takes an hour and a half.

So yes if you dislike buses and trains, fly to Samui and take the boat to Tao from there.

From Ko Tao you can take the Lomprayah catamaran to Chumphon - then it's a bus to Krabi (3 to 4 hours) where you catch the boat to Phi Phi. At the end of your trip fly back from Krabi to Bangkok on Air Asia.

Thai Interests: Ko Phi Phi; beaches; walking; exploring; about as chilled a place as I can get considering the circumstances; clean accommodation (listen I’m pretty chilled girl, it just seriously hate sleeping around tropical bugs but I do acknowledge this is a ridiculous preoccupation, such is life); and I suppose secretly I wouldn’t mind a holiday location where I could have easy access to a gin and tonic or something like that at 5pm but of course not necessary.

1. I'm thinking about heading…

Thanks a lot! You guys have been extremely helpful..
Im only worried about scams, as I need to pay for the tour online.
The package tour sounds really nice, not only do they take you around the island, they also are providing accomodation at Phi Phi Island Village and food for 10,000 baht for 3 adults (Family).
So I should go for it then?

Hi,
I am arriving in Bangkok next Sunday 13th April and will be staying in Thailand for one month. I am planning to head south and stay in Kho Pha Ngan for most of my trip. Any suggestions on where to stay both in Bangkok and Kho Pha Ngan...and also places to go, things to do and see...As I am travelling by myself, it would be great to get in touch with people who are going to be there around the same time...so please get in touch if you are!
Thank you
