Hi there

There is a group of us travelling from Phi Phi to Koh Samui in December.

What is the best way to do this? We plan to leave on the 28 Dec and check into Koh Samui on the 29 Dec.
I was thinking we catch a ferry from Phi Phi to Krabi and then this is where I get stuck. Are there busses or trains available to take us across the mainland to the East side where we can catch a ferry to Koh Samui?

I was over at Phi Phi Island over new years this year. Basically, I went to the 1st dive shop that looked "big" enough so its not dodgy and being big, probably also means they have more boats, possibly bigger and newer boats. Of course, there are cases where big boats over pack with too many divers. And also, looking new so I would be assured that my equipments are not being overused.

I got lucky with Island Divers. They had very nice big boats, clean and safe. They would rather go out on 2…

Hi,

Just looking for some advice from someone who's been to the area. I will be spending Christmas on my own in Thailand and my current plan is to fly to Phuket, leave for Phi Phi the next day, stay there over Christmas and then head over to Krabi to catch a flight.

I'm 31, want to get a bit of relaxtion in, some diving, lie in the sun for a bit, few beers at night but no all-night drinking sessions.

Where would you suggest to stay for Christmas ? Which one of these three places offers…

I am just curious what are good sites to book hotels for Phi Phi Island. I have heard mixed reviews about Agoda and am not sure about using the phiphi.com websites. Other than that, I do not know of many.

If anyone could suggest some online hotel booking sites that are reliable and you have not had trouble booking with, that would be really great.

Thanks

Heading over to Thailand with my partner at Christmas, we'll be spending some time in the north, then heading down to Ko Lanta for a week of chilling out. We then have 6 nights to spare before we need to get back to Bangkok to fly home - neither of us have been to Phi Phi before and would like to see the scenery, take the boat tours etc.

I know Phi Phi is a little busier than we'd like so we're not sure if we want to spend all 6 nights there - it might be overkill. Therefore we were thinking of…

More likely that you'll be able to hire a speedboat from Ao Nang to Phi Phi Don but I doubt that it'll be cheap since their day-tours per person runs 800-1,600 bahts. You might want to contact Orchid Resort in Ao Nang since they have their own fleet of speedboats and quite a number of their day tours return between 3-5pm which would free up their boats for hire.

I would recommend just staying one night on the mainland and catching a ferry the following day but if you've got your heart set on it…

Tezza - our bungalow didn't have aircon but not sure about the others. From reading the Travelfish reviews it seems as if the less favourable reviews have occurred since Ben left? The English girl who was working there had been there for a few weeks and seemed a bit embarrased and apologetic about how the place was run.
Don't get me wrong we had a good time and our fellow residents were chatty and they add to the feeling there but it seemed like a place that needed an injection of love and…

What about Khao Lak and Ko Tao which get named a lot? (Sorry I am not a diver).

I don't think you save much in Thailand looking for a house with the plethora of inexpensive guest houses with food and room service. And they are furnished.
