Do not worry about Had Yai. You'll be in the city for a max of two hours - if the last minibus to Pak Bara unfortunately has just left - but normally, when you arrive from the airport at the minibus-stand, the next one will leave approx. in 30 minutes or so. Even less time spent in the city on the way back: Quit minibus, hop in tuktuk, off to the airport! The chance to get killed by a rogue satelite falling on your head are better than by a bomb in Hat Yai, IMHO.
Moreover: Hat Yai is a nice town…

There are SO many to choose from! Looking for a recommendation for the best beach front bungalows on the island. Price not an issue. Just want the best.

Thanks!

Heya
Arriving for the first time in Ko Tao on Wednesday by Boat (thank you Dominic77) for a three week trip, any hints or suggestions from seasoned travellors on accomodation, resort and general local knowledge would be appreciated.
EG: as it is the Low season, is it really quiet? Best Dive school etc.

Cheers

I've been paying 200bht from Thong Sala to TNP. I'd happily pay 500bht. TNP is as close to heaven as I will ever get. I'm going back on 8 June. Well written summary drcvoyager!

Hey Janey!

I too, am in my 30's and love to end my time in Thailand relaxing and reading. For the last few years I have ended my time at Haad Yao beach on Ko Phangan. I find that beach alot more family orientated and a fantastic place to escape away from the crazy parties. Haad Yao is also one of the best beaches on the island for snorkelling and diving and with it being on KPG, still affordable compared to Ko Tao or Ko Samui. I have also loved Ko Lanta, but the beaches are no comparison to…

Phi Phi

Quote

drink in the sun and sit in beachside restaurants watching the sun set listening to good music

for "$18AUS"? That's about 520 baht/night. Sorry but on Phi Phi in November that just won't fly.
Expect to pay at least double that price for even the most basic fan/thatch accommodation in Nov (nearly peak season). Expect to pay at least 3x-4x times that if you want anything beachfront. Not trying to be a spoiler - just please adjust your expectations to…

Please can someone help out, i've been browsing hotel sites, review sites, hostel sites for about 3 days now trying to decide where to stay on phi phi and it's driving me insane.

I've been before and stayed at Phitarom which I have to say was fantastic for the money, clean, luxurious, chilled out, excellent staff. Now you're thinking why not just stay there again.

Well, as nice as it was, it wasn't beachfront and this time on phi phi we really want a beachfront place. We're not fussy as long…
