For a start I don't recommend Phi Phi, unless you like overbuilt, gap year piss head infested holes.

I've never been to Khao Lak, but from what I read, it's seems nice, though quiet.

+-8 hours between the ferries
???????? Car ferries to Samui run frequently during the day.

although it seems very overpriced for this time of the year
Most of Samui is overpriced at any time of year.
Phangan has far cheaper options, but you get what you pay for.

I'm on Lanta now, you can get a place for 300 - 500 baht a night. Just show up and stop depending on the internet for booking, Many places don't have online booking systems - don't worry you'll find a room - chill

I have a section which covers this on the GETTING THERE section of my PHI PHI page (and maybe my SAMUI page) HERE might help your planning.

Reason I don't write it down here is that it is pretty lengthy with a few warnings about rip-off operators.

Hello, I don't know how was it before the tzunami, but now i live in Phuket and I work as a Diving instructor. I do trips to the divesites around Phi Phi every week and I can say that it's absolutely it's the best place to dive around here. Some sites such as "Koh Bida Nok" and "Koh Bida Nai" (two small islands just next to Phi Phi Leh) are simply amazing, corals are more than alive, colorful walls and slopes, huge gorgonian fans and barrel sponges, tons of marine life. Last week I've been tere…

We are visiting Thailand for our honey moon and in 2 weeks time we will be staying in Phuket for 4 days and wanted to do some snorkeling, from what I gather a lot of people opt to go with a day tour to Phi Phi however I hear that the waters are not so clear, coral is damaged, bleached and some areas are off limits.

I discovered another island Koh Racha and I have heard that the water is clearer and the snorkeling is good too, basically my wife really can't wait to go snorkeling with fish and…

I'll be in Thailand next month and will have six days to spend between Phi Phi and Railay. Does two days on Phi Phi and four at Railay sound about right? I'll probably spend the last night in either Ao Nang or Krabi Town so I'll have an easy time getting to the airport for a morning flight. I'm also wondering about getting around on foot at these two places. Will I be able to walk to all of the beaches on Phi Phi or will I have to take a long-tail to get to some? Same question concerning…

showbiz+ - just realised your idea of +"anything decent" may be different from mine - I'm a backpacker so flashpacker bungalow's like the one I mentioned in #1 are pretty decent from my perspective.

But if you are a midranger and are looking for more incl a pool, maybe Google adjacent place Phi Phi The Beach resort.

Hi there,

I'm heading to Thailand for the first time next week, arriving on the 12th. I have a couple of questions regarding accommodation in Phuket and Koh Phi Phi. I want to book a double room (2 people 1 bed) in both locations.

On Phuket i want to stay at Patong Beach. The cheapest accommodation i can find on the internet is 800 baht per night. Is this a fair price or would i get better deals upon arrival?

On Koh Phi Phi i'd prefer to stay in a cheap bungalow if possible. I'm not really…
