Find a portable Pho stand and have a late night snack there. There is nothing like a hot bowl of Pho on your way home... I'd take it over a fancy feast any day.

We'll be in Ho Chi Minh during the beginning of June before heading off to Cambodia and Laos. As we've never been to Vietnam ( or that region ) before and was wondering if there was anyone local that we'd be able to spend a day or two with so we can become familiar with the customs and help us get our feet wet? Am heading to Phnom Pehn tomorrow by bus then will be looking for the best way to Ho Chi minh.

Any Ideas...?

Flying is not out of the question but seems i will most likely have to head back to Bangkok and fly from there.

We were looking at getting a bus but am now wary of going thru an agent as a so called TAT agency in Bangkok has left us not wanting to go down that path again.

If anyone can give me a rough idea that would be awesome.

I think this question is for Bigal! Where do you stay in Chi Phat, and how are the mosquitoes there? Is it worth going to for 2 nights? what activities do you recommend.
About Koh Rong, I've read the mosquitoes are bad there, as well as the water near Koh touch for cuts on the feet. Is this true? Also, would it better to wait until I get to Sihanoukville and get get a room and boat tickets from a travel agency as I don't know when I will get there exactly.

I would be REALY REALY thankfull to hear anything from any tourist wich is at shri lanka at the moment. We suppose to travel in 50 days, 2 adults and 2 children...also cant get refunf from airlain company...
