There shouldnt be any problems. The ferry ride from Phi Phi doesnt take that long. You can also pre pay for a taxi on the ferry so you dont have to wait once you get off.
Hi Laurent,
Awesome choice on Phi Phi, we really love it and I'm sure your time there will be great! There are many tour agents on the island that offer day tours (full day, half day) and we did the one that goes to Maya Bay, Monkey Beach, Phi Phi Leh . I don't remember the name (sorry couldn't help there), but I'm sure that you will not have a hard time finding an agent, they are on every corner hahah.
I would recommend that you check out and see what type of boats they use, we took the…
I will be out in Thailand May 14th-May 29th. I am a single American girl. I was supposed to be traveling with a boyfriend but he backed out and now I am going solo. All the places you mentioned are the areas we were going to hit. If you are looking for me people to join you, I am definitely interested.
Hi, in Koh Lanta you can stay in Long beach where you can find bungalows for 300-350 bahts (Chillout House), or go to Clayzy House dormitory for 140 bahts per night.
Very true Bangkok Boy, I'm meeting a friend on Ko Phangan for a few days over new years eve so once we've met up I reckon I'll play it by ear for the rest of the trip, it'll be nice not to have a plan for a little bit I think. Better than being tied down to somewhere if I really don't like it.
Rini: I'll have a look at Koh Lanta, Mook, and Ngai, a couple of folks have mentioned them to me in the past too.
Thanks for the advice both of you, if anyone else has any ideas then let's hear 'em.
Hello All,
It's another where should I go, where should I stay question, I'm afraid...
I am considering doing my Advanced Open Water Diver during my next holiday. I am a female travelling on my own and can't decide whether to stay in Phi Phi, Phuket or Railay. As it's going to be peak season (early January), hotels are going to be mega expensive where ever I stay, but Phi Phi seems particularly expensive. I am looking for a quiet and relaxed place, I am not into parties but would like to stay…
Re Kanganga .
The reason many people like to stay in simple bungalows is because it preserves the aesthetics of the beach . If you have nice beach and then put concrete resorts chalets and villas on it , it doesn't look so nice any more .Who needs air con when you have nice traditional A Frame with the breeze going thru it . And if comfort is your main priority you may as well stay on Sth of Spain . Miami , or Surfers Paradise.

To respond to my own question: Hat Dalam for sure if you are into a mellower vibe. Ton Sai is super congested with boats, and it's where all the ferries dock so there is TONS of traffic and noise. Also there aren't a lot of places to chill out on Ton Sai side, mostly just one big resort. On Dalam, there are lots of little beach bars with beach chairs, a lot less boats. Both sides have gorgeous scenery and water color but Ton Sai is just way too crowded with boat traffic and the noise/smells…
I got 15% off direct email booking to where I want to stay for 4 nights on Lanta end march easily. It is a mid range seafront joint.
p_mc_livin ... can you do me a favour & confirm/deny that the krabi to lanta ferry in the afternoon is still running ? I am struggling to get confirmation
Thanks
GREAT hotel--getting kinda pricey these days though. While im sure you can get a private longtail there--i recommend using the hotels speed boat which meets all the ferries. Even on speedboat its a 30 minute ride or so if i remember correctly. Isnt the hotel's boat free for guests? Once at the hotel, you are pretty captive--as there is no where else to eat drink (we did not walk to the village you mention---but i doubt there is much for tourists there). The food is good and only slightly…
