We're a family of 4 (mum, dad, twins aged 2) thinking of spending 4 or 5 days on Koh Phi Phi, before we fly out of Phuket (end of our Thailand and Laos trip).

We're going in August - can anyone tell me if boats run regularly between Phuket and Koh Phi Phi at this time of year, and if so, are they especially rough during the monsoon season (as I read on another thread they may be in July)? And, how long is the boat trip? We'd not care, but we don't think the kids would tolerate a long rough…

Also recomandations on other places to visit welcome, I have been to Thailand a few times and have managed to cover all the North, Bangkok, Ko Samui, Phuket, Ko Phang Na...

Hi just heard that the most of phiphi was taken out, only army left ther to bury the dead people.

My husband and I are headed to Thailand over the holidays and new years this year. Because of the time of year, we are being encouraged to book accommodations in advance. That makes sense. We have 7 days in the islands after we leave Chiang Mai. I don't really know what the distances or travel time is between all of these places. But perhaps you could help.

My girlfriend and I are planning to spend a little less than a week in the Southern Thailand in august to relax before heading back home. Any suggestions on choosing Koh Pha-Ngan vs Koh Lanta regarding weather conditions? Will one island get more rain that the other? Will Koh Lanta "close down" during this time of year? I assume that Koh Pha-Ngan never sleeps ;-) Feel free to recommend good value bungalows, beautiful beaches as well as nice things to do there..

I hope this is ok to post, I pre purchased two transferable vouchers for a speedboat tour from Phuket. The passes include round trip transfer from your hotel as well. This tour stops at Maya Bay (the beach), Khai Island and includes lunch, drinks, snacks and snorkelling. My friend is leaving the area early, so either I need to find someone to come with me, or sell both tickets so I don't totally lose my money! :( I am a backpacker, so every dollar counts!
