Thanks.
Chiang Mai sells a mixed herbal tea (butterfly pea, chamomile, rose, saffron) for B40. Small quantity, but perfect gift !

I hope I'll find something similar in Phuket - the big market in Old Town must be full of tourist souvenirs

Hello, I am a professional skipper and this year I have been hired for Guadeloupe.
I will be doing 7 days charters around some of the most beautiful anchorages this island has to offer.
It will be the first time for me sailing la Guadeloupe. I have sailed most of the lesser Antilles but the flight costs from Canada to Guadeloupe used to make this destination very pricy.
Airplane fares have dropped significantly probably since Norwegian air now offers direct flights from Montreal to Pointe a Pitre. Lucky for me!!
My wife and I work has a team on charter boats and we drive on giving the best service possible.
We will be researching all the secrets spots and things to know has we sail this beautiful destination.

If anyone wants to share a little secret, feel free.
We do appreciate the land secrets has they are not in sailing guides.

Cheers.

No not necessarily cheaper it just an option But the weather is good on east coast Malaysia at that time and Sumatra. You definitely have no more than 6 weeks to travel ?

No, sadly have to be back by September 1st for uni and can't leave before July 21st

August is rainy season in Nth Thailand you can still go but it can be drenching rain every 40 mins and having to walk in mud .

Okay thanks, that's good to know, so then I'm gonna think about whether that's still a good idea

At Ko Phangan weather good at that time and after Ko Phangan could go to east coast Malaysia.

You mean this Ko Phangan? According to the site it's still quite rainy am I right?

No idea about cost of flghts from Europe but if you could flight to Penang , KL or Southern Thailand then you could make your way to Medan in Sumatra or take the ferry from Melaka in Malaysia to Dumai in Sumatra and spend most of you time in North and West Sumatra . Not so hard on your budget and no rainy season but stupid Indonesian visa rules are a complication.

Okay thank you very much for that recommendation, I'm gonna reasearch that and come back to you

I've been looking for it but it is hard to coordinate flights between JAI-Delhi and then Delhi-Katmandú...

With respect, you're not making enough effort.

JAI 06:00 Sanganer Airport Jaipur 1hr DEL 07:00
IndiGo 6E6606

connecting to

DEL 11:45 New Delhi 1hr 45min KTM 13:45
IndiGo 6E31

or

Jet Airways 9W752
JAI 07:35 Jaipur 1hr 5min DEL 08:40

connecting to

Jet Airways 9W260

It's good. you have a reasonable amount of time in each place, and also an extra few days you can reconfigure on the fly. The only part of your trip I wouldn't do is the 11 nights on the Thai islands in September. I've been there in rainy season (July) and the ocean wasn't nice at all in Phuket, it was windy and the water wasn't clear and raining on some days. The places were in low season mode, which might have been cheaper, but I didn't like it.
Here's some info on Thailand:

Other than that 6 nights in Chiang Mai vs. 3 nights in Bangkok, that's really up to you, for me 6 nights in Chiang Mai would be a bit too much, but no problem in Bangkok.

It depends upon what kind of food you're looking for. I was seeking 100% authentic Thai, which I found in Nongkhai. It's only a small place though, so there aren't as many street vendors and markets as Bangkok or Chiang Mai. Having said that, I suspect I did miss a few gems in Nong Khai because I was out of town sightseeing one day and had other things I wanted to check out so never did get to the town centre, per se.

Thanks, everyone for the help! I think we will stay the night in Mae Sot and cross the border in Myanmar the next morning. From there, we will take a shared taxi to Hpa-An and then onto Yangon by bus.

One more question. After we leave Myanmar, we will need to make our way back to Bangkok as we are flying out of Bangkok to Nepal. My thought was just to backtrack the way we entered the border but as I was researching more, I found a border crossing in Northern Myanmar/Thailand -> The Tachileik/Mae Sai border crossing. And now I am second guessing my route.

Has anyone entered and excited from different border points? It seems going through one border and exiting the other makes the most sense in terms of overland travel/timing? We'd either enter Mae Sot/Maywaddy or Mae Sai/Tachileik and exist whichever one we did not enter through.

Hmm. Nothing wrong about asking for an opinion on the coast line and the sights there?

Trip 2 Day 2
That's over 300km that day, and even if you zip in the morning to the Southern most point on the highway it will be a very long day.

I would likely prefer to fly to Cumphon and take a car from the airport to Ban Krut beach and base myself there as it's between PKK and the Chumphon sights, shortening day 2 trip considerably.

I assume you don't want to change hotels to avoid unpacking? (Personally I would change hotels every night, fly in via Chumphon, out via Hua Hin or vice versa).

As for the sights I liked

Wanakon Beach National Park, only one snack type store but pretty beach spot, good for a stroll, easy access.
Wat Tang Sai, certainly worthwhile, interesting temple on top of the hill.
Noen Sai Chumphon sand dunes beach, good swimming beach, but dunno if for elderly and toddlers, short but steep up and down.
Bo Thong Lang, very small bay, not much of a stroll, but good restaurants there, would try to make it a food stop.
Khet Udomsak shrine if you like old warships.

Bonnie, any unlock it will be on your carrier side. All the carrier booths like AIS, DTAC, TrueMove at Chiang Mai will only sell your sim card and plan. They only unlock your wallet that is all, K̄haw khoon khrab.
