Sadly, as a US American, I only get 2 weeks of vacation this summer. I am planning on spending it in Spain. I will be there the first 2 weeks of July, landing in Valencia and leaving from Madrid. I'm thinking of flying from Valencia to Mallorca, and then to Sevilla. I'm definitely thinking of spending 1 week in Sevilla and seeing the rest of Andalucia from there.

What do people think about this. I know Mallorca has some nice beaches, is it really crowded there in July, what's the traffic like…

I've never walked that camino but I live in Andalucia and have considered doing it. Some questions.

It's about 1000 km long. At 20km a day, that would take you 50 days if you walk every day. Do you intend to walk the whole length?

Along that camino throughout Andalucia and parts of Extremadura the weather will still be hot in September, and even into early October, with daytime max temperatures often being around 30 - 35ºC. Have you had any experience of walking in those temperatures?

By the…

First things first. Don't plan anything around spending time on the beach on the Mediterranean. In October the weather is completely unreliable with rain-bearing fronts coming in from the ocean at any time. You could be lucky and have lovely warm weather, but you may not be lucky at all. So forget about that at this stage.

The two itineraries are so different that I can't help you to decide. I'm sure you're aware of the differences and they are very pronounced. Navarra and the Basque…

Everyone will of course have their own opinions based on their experiences and personal likes and dislikes. I personally felt more comfortable in Sevilla than Madrid (being from a small college town in N.C.) , mainly because it is not such a big city. You can get everywhere in Sevilla walking, while you can't in Madrid (although Madrid has a good metro system). Sevilla is certainly more laid back than Madrid, as you may know being from Kentucky, there is a different pace of life compared to…

Hi! I am in the process of planning a trip to Spain and Portugal for November, and am working out an itinerary. I'm short on days for Barcelona though and am looking for suggestions from travellers on where I could adjust my itinerary to gain some extra time in Barcelona.

My intinerary for the whole trip goes something like this (travel days between cities NOT included):

Bilbao - 2 days
Braga - 2 days (maybe an o'nighter in Santiago de Compostela on the way to Braga, depends if we bus or train it…

In response to #7

Hi mrredmen, thanks a lot for your very insightful response! Can I do el Escorial and Avila in a day? Is there more to see in Avila or Segovia?

Yea, I realised I overestimated Andalusia, because I added the days up but forgot that the first place of a place = last day of a place. haha I will add either Ronda or Argos to my itinerary, and I do have a hike + orange grove somewhere, but I have to go dig out the name of the place. Do you know of any place accessible by bus (maybe walk 1-2km to the…

ANDELUCIA HAS MORE HOLIDAYS THAN ANYWHERE!

I DEFINATELY BOOK AHEAD, IF I KNOW ABOUT ONE AT MY DESTINATION. PRICES ARE JACKED THEN, BUT YOU GET A GREAT TASTE OF CULTURA ANTIGUA.

SOME OF THE GUILDS OR BROTHERHOODS, IN THE SEVILLE SEMANA SANTA, DATE FROM THE MID 1200'S.
Pardon the caps.

Cafés that you're lucky to find open then, have only special jacked up menus. Personally I like to see daily life. That's why I don't mind getting lost..

If you get stuck behind an old couple, when they're…

We are thinking about a one-week trip to Spain during 3rd week of March 2017. We heard Andalucia around that time of year is nice. I've been to Granada a long time ago, but the rest of my small family (husband + 7 yr old daughter) have not.
Would apppreciate suggestions on where to go and stay. We like cultural sights but also some outdoor activities (hiking, beaching, horse riding, ?). We'd prefer not too much driving, but could rent a car. We're offseting costs with mileage credits, so we'd be…

driving across stretches in northern spain is a really great idea, however car rentals and most things in general are more expensive than in places like andalucia. though, it's absolutely beautiful, and the weather is much nicer than the rest of spain during the summer months.

i guess my only suggestion would be that you try to spend more time in fewer cities or towns as opposed to trying to see every hilltown or beachtown from barcelona to lisbon and so you aren't driving every other day or…

If you were ever treated unjustly because of your race or gender, I'd be the first one to tell you to raise hell.

But, people all over the world will stare at something or somebody out of the ordinary. I get stared at in my town here in Andalucia when I ride my bike as still there are fewer women riders than men.Do I feel offended? Nahhh. I rev it up a bit and give'em a wave.

And, by the way the people who look with such disdain at others and don't return a smile are just internationally-present…
