Hello! I'm traveling to Italy in July 2018 for 9 nights with my parents and my sister (all adults). Flying in and out of Rome. We are prioritizing Rome and Cinque Terre but also want to do a day trip to Florence. We’re doing two nights Rome (Fri-Sat), then two nights Vernazza (Sun-Mon), and then five more nights in Rome back at the same hotel (Tues-Sat). I’m thinking we’ll do our day trip to Florence on Friday (second to last full day of the trip). During that last five night stretch, as of now we’re planning to do the Vatican Thursday morning, have a relaxing afternoon/evening, and then do a day trip to Florence all day Friday. I’m wondering though – is there any big advantage to do Florence on Thursday instead of Friday? Will there be much of a difference in the crowds? If so, we would consider Florence on Thursday instead. Along those same lines – would the Vatican be better or worse on a Thursday versus a Friday morning, or about the same? I assume both places would be equally busy both days, considering it’s high tourist season in July, but I would appreciate any thoughts.

I also welcome thoughts on our itinerary in general. (For some background, the reason we are doing CT in the middle of the trip is because Sunday/Monday seemed like a good time to go as several places are closed in both Rome and Florence on those days. And an awesome apartment was available on those days so we booked it. And I know Florence is amazing - I've been before - but we're more into history than art and we want to limit the number of hotel check-ins so I think one day trip there will suffice - we are skipping the Uffizi in favor of David and the Duomo.) Thank you!

Hello,

My boyfriend is going away in Poland on a business trip and we decided that I would go join him after so we can stay 5 days to travel (my parents will take care of the kids - yeah!!!) :) . He will be working in Lodz. I have never been in Poland and have yet to read about it. Though we need to buy the plane ticket now.

I was thinking to meet in in Warsaw (arriving on a Monday morning) - spend Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday the take a train to Krakow and spend , Thursday Friday - fly back from krakow on the Saturday.

Does it make sense or is there enough to do just in Warsaw and around? Or should we make it 2 days Warsaw and 3 Krakow? Any tips are welcomed.

Thanks!!!

Thanks for the info, guys! As an update, I confirmed I AM able to stay with my friend now, and I will just be tagging along with whatever he has planned for at least the first 3-4 days of the trip. He lives with his family in San Salvador, so that is where we will be based. It sounds like we will do a lot of things within San Salvador, but then will make day trips (such as to a beach?) too.

WIth this being said, I want to give him, his girlfriend, and family some space and not necessarily stay with them all week (I will be there from a Thursday to a Wednesday), and also want to explore at least one other place outside of San Salvador on my own if it's not possible with him, so I guess at this point I'm looking for the #1 thing to do (maybe 2 things, tops) that's NOT in San Salvador and not a likely day trip to do either with my friend, in which would potentially require me to stay overnight for a night or two in order to truly experience.

Your recommendations above have given me some ideas, but just wanted to send this update.

Well, that would require an email address ...

Regrettably I am leaving in the morning for a backpacking trip up in Hornstrandir - but I'll be back by Thursday of next week.

The Miami to Holguin charter through Nassau is $655 and operates on Thursdays and Sundays. It is not published or available through Bahamasair as it is a charter even though regularly scheduled. Bahamasair referred me to FDVTravel, a small travel agency in Miami who provided info.

I called FDV Travel and asked about Orlando (MCO) to Holguin as Bahamasair does fly Orlando to Nassau. FDV Travel said not possible. I asked about only doing the Nassau to Holguin leg as many airlines regularly fly Orlando to Nassau. Again, not possible. I looked on the Bahamasair website for Nassau to Holguin flights. Nothing.

I did call ABC Charters in Miami before I spoke with FDV Travel as I have been very happy with ABC since 2009. They once operated a large charter airline serving Cuba and are now a travel agency. They have chosen not to sell the Bahamasair charter service as they want their customers to be satisfied with the services they sell. They did offer some explanation but I will not publish it as they were offering their opinion to a long established customer, possibly not for publication.

So the Bahamasair charter from Miami to Holguin may be suitable for some, it does not work for me.

Hey Mbogda. Thank you for that. I don't think I need a visa for Turkey. At what time will people start eating in the evening, because of Ramadan? I will be in Istanbul this Thursday. 28 June. Going to a popular eating place for this might be a good idea?

Tioga Road
May 30, 2019

With some assistance from Mono County, the length of the road is plowed (at least one lane wide), although there is a high-risk avalanche zone at Olmsted Point. Crews are working on side roads and utility areas. Much additional work remains prior to opening.

Snowpack in the Tuolumne River basin was at 149% of average this year as of May 1. View a list of previous opening dates. There is no estimated date for opening.

Highways 108 and 4, north of Yosemite, have opened for the season.

Half Dome

The Half Dome cables are scheduled to be in place starting Thursday, June 6. The cable route will be closed for repairs and not accessible beginning June 3 and lasting through June 5. A permit is required to hike to the top of Half Dome when the cables are up.

I am a senior woman, going to Berlin arriving on a Monday afternoon from the US, on my way to a tour starting in Prague on Friday evening in June 2020. I'm flying into TXL. While I'm pretty sure I can find a comfortable hostel bunk in Berlin, I'm confused about getting to Prague. I understand there is a train ticket with a hop on/off feature and if so, I'd like to stop to see central Dresden for a few hours. I will have a regular rolling suitcase though, rather than a wearable pack. So if I get a morning train out of Berlin, 2 hours later I'm in Dresden and can leave Dresden on a 4:00 or so train. Is there a safe luggage drop at the train station in Dresden? Am I biting off too much to make this 4-hour stop? I will have spent Tuesday-Thursday exploring Berlin. I know train is faster than a bus, but might the bus be better for any reason?

Also, is the Berlin Pass really worth it? I'm not interested in LegoLand or other family attractions. Yes to Jewish Museum, the Wall, the national art museums. I have just begun to research exactly what I'll do while in Berlin, but I want the transportation nailed down.
Thank you!
