There is only one railway station in Marrakesh, i.e. no suburban ones, so the only train journey your friend could enjoy is between Marrakesh and Casablanca, the railway system does not venture any further south, but maybe if she could adjust her affection to buses she could enjoy a long Supratours bus ride from Marrakesh down to the southern desert regions. Supratours is a subsidiary of the Moroccan railway company ONCF and from memory they offer a service as far south as Merzouga.

I wrote last note seeing only timcullis's reply. Just now saw everyone else's. We know Morocco's big & travel's slow, which is why we decided to concentrate just on Marrakesh & Fes. Sounds like the consensus is that either one's worth at least a week each. A couple of friends found Fes much more inviting, interesting and relaxing, and without the hustle and bustle of the mean streets of Marrakesh. We didn't appreciate how slow it can be to get around, though, other than we thought we'd take…

Why not miss out Ouarzazate, a hot and dusty town, and for me the only place of interest was the late Pasha Glaoui's restored Taourirt Kasbah, I also advise body-swerving tourist and hustler-infested Marrakesh, there you won't find the street Neanderthals as easy to give the brush off as the one you described in Chefchaouen!

On my one and only memorable journey to Merzouga I travelled on an old banger bus from Fes to Errachidia, spending a couple of nights there in the Hotel Ansar, across…

I find the difference between Fez and Marrakech quite startling, the Fassi are educated and clever, Marrakshis are just avaricious, these of course are personal generalisations but based on many visits to both cities over four decades.

There is not much noticeable difference in pricing between the two cities, except that Marrakech is the tourist "capital" of Morocco, therefore there is an expectation of merchants being able to realise a greater profit at the expense of the many gullible…

Hello,

I'm wanting to explore Morocco and then head east to Egypt. My rough 3 week itinerary for morocco would be: (no particular order right now)
Fly into Marrakech
Travel to the town where it is all blue
Possibly do a 2-3 day Sahara desert tour
Casablanca
Essaouira
Tangier
I heard that fez and Rabat were not the greatest to visit. Is 3 weeks enough time or too much?

Then I want to go to Egypt (for 2 and a bit weeks) by the cheapest way possible seeing as flights are pretty pricey. Is it possible…

Hello, we are planning a road trip in Morocco (we will have probably 2wd SUV). Since we visited northern Morocco and Western Sahara before, we would like to see something eastern from Marrakech. We would like to spend a couple of days in the desert if possible (not just Merzouga/Khamlia) and see as much as possible in 7 - 8 days.

We would appreciate any advices. I'm attaching our route. Are there any places we would miss which are worth to visit? How would do change the route?

In response to #2

We weren't that keen on Tangier. It didn't feel right, plus it was the end of our trip and raining. We found Marrakesh, Fez and Chefchaouen each more interesting and memorable. I would research the following;

1 - Arrive Tangier
2 - Bus from Tangier to Chefchaouen. Spend the day exploring the town. Then take the bus to Fez.
3 - Fez
4 - Fez
5 - Train Fez to Marrakesh
6 - Marrakesh
7 - Marrakesh
8 - Leave from Marrakesh

..... most transatlantic flights arrive at Casablanca, dependant on time of arrival consider staying here as this it's a good place for shopping and it offers several interesting sights worth visiting. see links below.

Mid-Winter with short daylight and possible weather interruptions, keep an eye on the weather-forecasts as you go, for Morocco the best, mildest and driest weather is found south of the High Atlas mountains on the Atlantic Coast at the seaside-city Agadir and the coastal…

Adding to the itinerary for our group of four. Enter Morocco at Tangier and using a private car for travel to Chefchauoen, Fes, followed by Marrakesh, over to Quarzazate, back to Agadir and depart Morocco. Thanks for your input.

Hi,

We have just started planning a trip to Morocco in Easter 2018, would love some tips and thoughts on the below schedule. We would like to visit some coastal areas, do a couple of nights camping in the dessert (camel riding etc.), visit the atlas mountains (maybe some light hiking and stay in the mountains if that's possible). Quite keen to go to places that are a bit off the beaten track and not so touristy.

Seeing as we have quite a lot of time we don't want to be rushing from place to…
