We usually rely on ATMs to get cash when we travel. Will that work in Morocco? We are from Canada so dealing with that banking nework. We will overnight in Tangier (arriving from Tarifa), then 3 nights in Fez and 3 nights in Marrakech.

Thanks for your guidance - R.

I think renting a car will be the best way to go first it is cheap and fast, from Rabat to Meknes is two hours. From Meknes to Fez it is an hour.

At that time of year I tend to keep to the warmer south. You don't say how you will travel on the non-train sections.

Unless you have some overwhelming reason to go to El Jadida I would skip it.

You need to work up your itinerary with travel times. Fez to Marrakech or visa versa will eat one complete day. Azrou to Ait Bougmez is a non-trivial journey, which is impossible to complete in one day, even if you have your own vehicle. You only have nine hours of daylight in late February and…

Our 18 days road trip in November will start and end in Casablanca .
We decided to rent a car but not sure if for the whole trip or not.
We were advised to avoid Fes and Marrakech with the rental car.
Question #1 Since we arrive in Casablanca and want to visit Rabat , then Fes should we rent the car in Casablanca or wait till after Fes, and use private driver/taxi on the first few days .
Question #2 Could we just leave the car somewhere outside Fes and enter by taxi to our Riad for 2 days?

Salam. No touts please. Looking to take scenic roads from Marrakesh towards Fes with some stops along the way for dine hiking. I've heard R707 is among most scenic. Has anyone done it?

How possible would it be to book an organised day trip to Ouzoud from Marrakech and then not return to Marrakech? Do such tours exist? I understand that I would have to pay the full price anyway but if it's reasonable I don't mind.

Perhaps you misunderstand. It's not that i want to avoid tourists, quite the contrary, it seems most likely that touristy places like Fes, Marrakesh or Essaouira would logically have a wider choice of rental places. It's just that i don't need to hop from place to place as a normal holiday-maker might do.

It was mentioned that there isn't much to do in a place like Chefchaouen. That's ok with me. I'm perfectly content strolling to some cafe in the morning, nursing a mint tea for a couple hours…

You can take a train from Fes to Marrakech. Or CTM bus which goes via Beni Mellal so you can have better view than from train or even taxi of course. And opportunity to visit Ouzoud waterfall if you wish. From there you can then take shared taxi to Marrakech.
