I am traveling to Rwanda in January. I only have one day to go gorilla trekking and I want to avoid the Rwanda permit fee. Does anyone have a suggestion for a budgeted tour operator that can arrange a drive from Rwanda to Uganda for the 1 day trek? Under 900$.
Thanks!
Hello All,
I am returning to Morocco next week with my boyfriend, mother and elderly aunt (a very mixed group)! Does anyone have recommendations for good tour guides in the following cities? We have our itinerary planned out, we would just be looking for a guide during the days who can really help bringing this wonderful place's history and culture to life.
Meknes /Volubilis
Fes
Marrakesh
Thank you!
Caroline
..... I've found hotel receptions a good place for advice on car-hire, Meknes is a medium sized city in Morocco, population more than 600,000 with with a moderate level of tourism, a destination for the independent traveller, mostly older age group, so a car-hire business thrives here, being close to Fez most car-hire outlets will have offices in both places, and international franchises are sure to have offices in Tangier.
Meknes is a good base for this area of Morocco, compared to…
Marrakech to Ait Ourir (N9) to Tighdouine then back to N9 by P2016.
As it happens there was discussion about this route on Horizons Unlimited website, see http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hubb/morocco/n9-marrakech-tichka-side-route-96691
Mid Feb first light will be 0745 with sunrise at 0815, sunset at 1915, so you have eleven hours to play with but I'd put the (slow and steady) driving time at close to eight hours plus stops . Start early for the most relaxing time.
There's a vague…

Hi, are SIM cards easy to get at the airport (Casablanca) and the city? Do foreigners need to register etc or do you just buy and use it.
Any particular providers that you would recommend? I will be in Morocco for about 10 days and travelling in Casablanca - Fez - Volubilis - Marakech. I mostly need data than voice as I mainly need it for Google Maps and email.
Thanks
Greetings !
This fall we are planning to travel from Lisbon thru Spain and cross the Strait of Gibraltar via the high speed Cat.
We are planning on spending 7 to 9 days In Marrakesh, Fez, and Casablanca.
Is train travel the best option between these points ? Any suggestions regarding other points instead of Fez and Casablanca ? Marrakesh is the primary destination. Our primary interests include the outdoors, cuisine, culture, people, wildlife...
Thanks for any advice of any kind. We have no…
Hello TT-ers!
I'll be in Marrakech from 9-18th May. My plan was to join a group tour to Erg Chebbi (one of the 2 night/3 day ones) in the middle of this time. But if Festival of the Roses is on that weekend it would be a shame to miss it.
Would the most sensible way to combine them be to take the desert tour on, say, Weds-Fri, but stay on in Ouarzazate and get a taxi to the Festival for a day? I'd rather not book anything in advance as I like to stay flexible (prone to changing my mind).

Atlas mountains - 2 day winter trek on a shoestring budget
Travelling during the Moroccan winter, we saw a quieter side of the trekking scene. Desperate to escape the frenetic energy of Marrakesh, my sister and I decided to take to the mountains. Despite trawling through Thorn Tree and the wider travel-related web, there was scarce information about trekking in the Atlas ranges in January, except for overpriced tours with limited itineraries. Hence after a successful and fulfilling journey on…
Thanks all for the Eid al Fitr warning. I must confess that I had mistakenly assumed 24 May as the date for 2019 (I had apparently looked at 2020 in the table...) and planned our trip from 3-10 June. We will change our plans as below, starting on 6 June.
a. For our group of 5, we will have to choose: a day to Bhalil and Sefrou (in schedule below) or a day to Moulay Idriss; what offers the most interesting contrast/addition, bearing in mind we'll have 2 1/2 days in Fez itself as well?
b. Any market…
