Hello!

I'm booking a last minute trip to Morocco, and really need some help with booking travel! (Potentially being a bit over-ambitious with how much I'm trying to cover within 2 weeks here...)
My ideal plans are:

  • Fly into Marrakech 4th March

  • Travel from Marrakech to aït bouguemez valley, and spend 3/4 days trekking around the area

  • Travel from aït bouguemez valley to Merzouga, spending 2 days in the Sahara desert

  • Travel from Merzouga to Chefchaouen…

Would you transport a small box of massage-therapy equipment to a massage center operated by blind people in Kathmandu?

Nepal charges a 100% tax for incoming packages, so if I mailed $100 worth of donations, the center would have to pay $100 to receive it. Additionally, mail is unreliable, and it's inconvenient to pick up in Kathmandu, especially for blind business owners. I thought a solution would be finding someone flying to Kathmandu, send them the small box of donations, and let them…

Hey!
Need a break from drought stricken NSW and planning to head to the states for a few weeks with my partner. Places of interest include Las Vegas, Baja Pennisula, Austin and New Orleans.
We know there's a bit of ground to cover but keen to see if this is totally unreasonable, are we accidentally missing too much great stuff in any location by having limited time and should we focus on fewer places?

Draft game plan:
* Feb 21 - Fly to LA
* Feb 23 - drive to Vegas (2 nights) - just want a taste…

We have spent 42 days in Morocco: started in the north with Tangier and Chefchaouen then went on visiting the imperial cities from Rabat to Fez before moving south to Merzouga to see the sand dunes of Erg Chebbi. From there, we took the "Route des Kasbahs" before heading to Taliouine and Taroudannt, continuing to Essaouira and spending a few days trekking in Imlil. We eventually finished our trip in Marrakesh to fly back to the UK. We used public transport throughout, except one day when we…

..... some of the conversation is at cross-purposes, to further complicate it...or hopefully clarify some of the points raised.

Most of Morocco's "Desert" areas are Hamada Desert, ie. stones, boulders, sand and sparse vegetation, in some regards more interesting than the sterile empty sand dunes. The Sahara Desert is vast, the few strips of sand dunes found in southern Morocco and the Western Sahara are small isolated patches of "Desert"on the edge of the Sahara. Consider this, at…

I would also take a train right from Tangier to Marrakech, as said 6 days are not so many days and if you do your plan, you would mostly sit on the transport on the way somewhere.
About camel trek, don't do it in Palmeraie, it is silly to do camel trek there like a fool tourist. It is better to go to Agafy desert, it is one hour from Marrakech, by bus, and it give you a taste of the desert, even if it is not sand dunes there.

We travel because we need to. Because the distance and difference are the secret tonics to the creativity. When we get home, home is still the same, but something in our minds has changed, and that changes everything.

Hi all! As a lot of people probably do, my friend and I are going to Israel and wanted to hop over to Petra for a day... we have since learnt that a. there are additional costs to such a quick Petra trip and b. Jordan is very interesting and well worth a longer visit! So, my questions are...
1. has anybody got any tips for making our own way from Israel (presumably from Eliat) to Petra/Jordan, over the border and in Petra itself, without a guide/tour - we are keen to avoid tours where possible…

Hi

Ill be doing Kruger in February with a friend and I need assistance with planning it. We are not budget travellers, but nor do we want to spend too much. We will be going in the 2nd week of February

  1. Is it best to book a packaged tour that includes hotel, meals and daily excursions in the park?

  2. From Joburg is it best to have our own car and drive there ourselves, or should we simply book a tour that can pick us up from Joburg and bring us back that includes hotel, daily…

In Marrakesh we'll be renting a 4x4 which we will return in Fez. So 11 nights in between. With help of this forum (among others) I created this route. I am a Marocco first timer, so could you please have a look at it and tell me what you think?

Advice

Hi Fellow travelers
My husband and I travelling to Morocco in September. We are breaking all our rules and doing a small group tour for 17 days but have 6 days prior to departing for some independent travel. Out trip does not take in Chefchaouen and would like some advice as to whether it is worthwhile going to see. We fly in to Casablanca and can either get a late night flight to Fez or wait until the next day and get a bus to Fez, spend an extra day there then get a bus to Chefchaouen. Happy…
