I land in Bangkok for my second trip in the region on March 5th. A few days after that, I'd like to take the sleeper train to Chiang Mai and I understand it's advisable to buy this ticket in advance so I'd like to get on that soon. However, I'm also toying with the idea of stopping in Ayutthaya and/or Lopburi on the way -- but I'm not sure yet! This is why I hate booking things in advance. Would it be at all possible, if I choose to once there, to travel separately to Ayutthaya and/or Lopburi as…
Hi,
Have made my way back to Chiang Mai after 2 fantastic, yet gruelling weeks in Northern Laos and down to Vientiane.
I feel ready to tackle the Mae Hong Son loop which I'll start in a couple of days (love the food options in CM) and was then thinking of riding back down to BKK for my flight out on the 16th of Dec.
I know some folks suggest the riding is a bit boring, but I have the time and would like to keep the legs ticking over :)
Asking for route suggestions and places worth visiting…
Dear travelers of the world,
We are planning a long trip in South East Asia with my girlfriend and Thailand is a big part of this.
We will be going south and enjoy the coasts before going up north to Chiang Mai and cross the border to Laos.
As we have time, I would love to be able to make the route from Bangkok to Chiang Mai by car. This would also be a good way to discover the area close to the border with Myanmar which, I have heard is amazing and has a different vibe from the rest of Thailand…
I'm definitely going to Grand Canyon for cliff diving, but there are also tons of waterfalls around here. Most of them seem to be tiered and shallow (read useless). A friend told me that locals jump from a tree at Buatong / Bua Thong waterfall but that it doesn't look particularly safe.
Any better suggestions for waterfalls suitable for cliff diving?
My friend and I are travelling in June to Chiang mai (3-4 days) then 2.5 weeks in Myanmar. Would you suggest flying to Yangon or Myanmar from Chiang mai. We leave from Bangkok. Unfortunately we have to go at this time and realise it will be difficult to get around with the monsoon but any ideas on itinerary would be appreciated and ideas for travel options and best type of accommodation to stay in. Thanks in advance

Hi all,
we are planning on visiting Ghandruk on our trip to Nepal. As we will not do a longer trek we would like to stay in Ghandruk for a couple of days.
Any preference for eiter of the mentionned Guesthouses? Or a recommendation for another one? Preferentially room with own bath.
