I have to agree w/ Sonia; you've chosen too many places, and you haven't left enough time for transport between places.

Mompox is an isolated place, and the transport to get to/from there takes some time. It only gets a few tourists because there's not much to do there. It's an atmosheric place to relax, not worthwhile with the transport required if you only have one day.

The Ciudad Perdida trek is worthwhile if you want to experience trekking the selva alta (high jungle) in South America for…

I am under the impression that a licensed company is needed only for K2 (Gondogoro La) trek. Biafo-Hispar trek is possible to do completely on your own (at least few years back it was possible).

First, which airport will you arrive at in Istanbul? They are on separate continents and quite a few kilometers apart.
If Ataturk airport, it's easy to take the bus.
So you take the Metro to the otogar (bus station) - about 20 minutes from the airport. MetroTurizm is probably the best company to book with, and you should ask/look for a direct bus to Goreme (the bus will probably have Kayseri as its final destination ).Take a bus that will get you into Goreme at a reasonable hour - say 7.00 or…

Hello! This past September, my wife and I traveled to Uganda for gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Park, and we loved it and highly recommend it!

We stayed at the Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge (awesome accommodation / experience), which helped us secure our tracking permits and coordinate with the park to arrange our guides. Our guides led us (my wife + 4 other tourists) on the trek, and it took us an hour or so to reach one of the gorilla families. The hour that we got to spend with…

Thanksgiving is a bit different in terms of travel. It is really for celebrating with friends and family. Airfares can go up, flights overbook, and airports are nightmares, but hotels may be deserted. Actually, Thanksgiving Day itself can be a good day to fly, as few people want to be coping with flights that day. However, the days before and the weekend after can be bad for air travel.

This is one of the few days when everything closes down, including museums and other things of interest to…

What I know there'll be permit checks at Timpohon Gate. 2D/1N treks will be confirmed 30 days before actual climb since the preference is given to 3D/2N treks.
There are day hikes you can do with just paying the park entry fee eg. Liwagu Trail, Pandan Trail & others or a combination of these.

hi everyone, I leave for Ethiopia shortly and was wondering how much USD is it worth taking? I plan to do everything on budget and use public transport as much as possible without flying too much, even if it does take a few extra days off my time. ive been told that 1000 USD is more than sufficient to last me 3 weeks - including simian mountain trek and Danakil depression (the two most expensive tours to pay for). Anyone shine any light on this?
thanks in advance!

I'm arriving in Namibia in a couple of weeks. I have a preliminary itinerary that I wanted to share to get feedback/recommendations. I'm renting a Compact car from Hertz from Dec. 17-29. I understand that December is during the rainy season, will I be okay with a compact car?
I am a travel photographer traveling solo. The main reason for my travel to Namibia is to photograph the stunning landscape. I don't have the big telephoto lenses to photograph the wildlife in Ethosha, nevertheless, would…

@Klaush: From what I can gather Egypt is very safe except for northern Sinai and the Western Desert. As Anabase says, lots of people do the Cairo to Cape Town route.

@anabase: The Western Desert route has such spectacular scenery. With the coastal route down through Morrocco and Mauritania being the only other viable option now Algeria and Libya are pretty much out of bounds, the Western Desert route is the only one which takes you into the heart of the Sahara. I'll feel it'd be a…

I saw a lot of blog posts and tours offering Viedma Glacier Ice Trekking and Upsala Kayaking in Patagonia, but now I cannot find any tours, even the companies websites (eg. Patagonia Adventures) that mentioned in blog posts no longer list ice trekking.

I finally found something: The Upsala Kayak tour is not operational this season 2017/2018 due to the constant ice spills that occur from the front of the Upsala Glacier making kayak navigation unsafe.

It's very disappointing for my trip and…
