I noticed a similar post below about Andalucia. Well, I am wondering the same about Madrid. If I check the restaurants in the LP of my town, it's all the wrong pick (for me).

Me and my partner love to eat (well) and drink fine wine. And we both have a sweet tooth as well:) We are hoping for some first hand suggestions where to eat well, it can be anything from a street stand to a fine restaurant - as long as the food is great:) We would of course like to avoid places catering only to turists.

We…

Hi

My girlfriend and I are looking for ideas for somewhere to go trekking in late November / early December and would appreciate any suggestions or recommendations. Our criteria are:

- we have 9 days available including travelling time
- given the time we have available the less distance we have to travel (from London) the better (also better for carbon footprint of course),
- we want to trek independently, but would prefer not to camp - i.e. are looking to stay in villages or refuges, etc
- we're…

My favorite so far went something like this:

"I waited way too late to make plans for my 2-week trip to Andalucia (Spain) in August. I want to see it all and experience the real Spain. So, I am asking all you experienced TTers to help. My trip is in your hands [it actually said that] So, don't let me down. Tell me what to do and see and give me some suggestions for great and cheap places to stay and some good restaurants. Thanks in advance [which means: "I won't be back to acknowledge or…

Buses are easy in spain and no rail pass is needed :-)
Count on about 60 euro/day per person incl. travel
Spain is filled with interesting places. don't limit yourself to Granada/Seville although the Alhambra in Granada is amazing and worth the hassle.
I will get flamed for this, but Seville is overrated.
If you are in the area, though, you could check out Cadiz, which is surrounded by the sea on all sides and has some of the best seafood in Spain.
If you prefer small towns there are the white towns…

From the original post:
I would like to have less than 3 hours to Ronda by train or bus the next day

I would go further than anillos_de_saturno. There is nowhere interesting on the train line between Mérida and Seville that is also less than 3 hours by train or bus from Ronda. That is why I said:
"However, the train station (Santa Justa) and bus station (Prado de San Sebastian) in Seville are not especially close to each other so your maximum 3 hours would have to include the time it takes to get…

hi guys

and thnx for your suggestions. its helping lots. I'm thinking I might have to change my plans a little bit. Hiring a car is definitely out then.

I'm thinking about two options:

1. Fly into Madrid, spend 2 days there. Take the train to Malaga from there (I read somewhere this could be 3 hours ?).
Hire a car in Malaga - where we will be based for the rest of the time - for maybe 5 days and drive to Cordoba, Granada and Seville while in the area. I'm thinking of maybe renting a house in…

i wasn't crazy about madrid, but i only had a day there inbetween night trains. fun fact--i could not use my debit or credit cards in a shop without having my passport--which i had locked up at the train station for safe keeping... (hopefully this has changed?)

andalucia--i loved it. in La Ronda, i stayed outside town in a refugio for some walking, but that wasn't very convenient. the town itself is lovely and worth a couple of days. good 'bandits' museum and fantastic cowboy boots can be…

Wise words from Bp, an experienced traveller, and we usually agree. I tried to strike a balance between stays in places and travel.

Madrid - Seville genuinely is a half-day trip: the AVE train takes just 2.5 hours.

Seville - Ronda, once you get out of the Seville suburbs, is a relaxing pleasure, as is Ronda - Granada.

Cordoba - Madrid is just 1 hr 45 mins by AVE.

However, if you choose BP's eminently sensible option, you can hire a car in Ronda and use it to travel around the "white towns"…

Hello! Your thoughts/help please:

I have 6 nights/5 full days in Andalusia from Feb 26 - Mar 2.

I'm flying in and out of Sevilla, but other than that, nothing is booked.

I would love to have your general thoughts on this plan, and I also have a few specific questions below.

Sunday - arrive evening, stay Sevilla
Monday - day and overnight in Sevilla
Tuesday - train to and overnight in Cadiz
Wednesday - another day/night in Cadiz
Thursday - train to and overnight in Jerez
Friday - train to and…

Hi all! Going in Andalusia starting 6 sept to 13 sept. could you help me answering to these question?

a) which are cities or towns worth to stay a pair of nights?

b) which are the best "off the beaten track" attractions around in your opinion? or: where you can advise me to get out from the main roads and explore countryside (consider I will land in Malaga and starting a clockwise tour to west till Cadiz and north to Sevilla, Cordoba, Granada, Malaga).

c) have you any idea of a "key" to…
