Oaxaca is the most linguistically diverse state: expect to hear Zapotec in the central valleys, or any other of the 16 indigenous languages native to the state.

What’s been your experience traveling from Palenque to the Villahermosa airport at that early hour of the a.m.?

The airport is well outside Villahermosa, on the way from Palenque (probably 30+ minutes closer than the ADO terminal in Villahermosa). I don’t see how any traffic in Villahermosa will impact travel time.

However, If the OP did opt for the 4:20 (arriving 6:40) he’d have to backtrack by bus to the airport (leaving at 7 a.m.); that will probably get him there the same time or after the 5 a.m. shuttle.

The OP knows the options, though ... and can make a choice that fits with his travel plan.

Edit: I went back to the ADO website to verify what I’ve written, and the page didn’t load properly. So, OP, check www.ado.com.mx to confirm.

Take the 4:20 AM OCC bus. With these journeys to airports, you need to plan as much time as possible for unexpected travel interruptions.

I just checked the ADO website. It lists a 5 a.m. ADO shuttle departure from Palenque to what appears to be the Villahermosa airport. There’s also a 4:20 a.m. OCC (subsidiary of ADO) departure to Villahermosa.

You are correct that it is a 2 hour trip. That means leaving Palenque at 5:00 AM. I think you should start considering spending the night in Villahermosa. By the way, they have an interesting archeological park with many huge Olmec heads.

You'll probably hear the locals speaking their Mayan languages on these combi vans, like Tzeltal or Tzotzil instead of Spanish.

Hello community!
Planning another jaunt in and around Yucatan and Chiapas in May/June. We'll be going from Merida through Uxmal area, to Campeche, down to Palenque and back up to Holbox to finish with some beach time. This time I'm trying to cut down on long-distance bus travel, so I booked a flight from Villahermosa back to Cancun, unfortunately that particular day midweek the only direct one was at 9am.
I'm trying to find out what are the options for early morning transfer from Palenque to Villahermosa airport (or to the bus terminal in the center and from there to airport), so we are at the airport at 7 or 7:30 am, which I assume should be enough for a domestic flight. We'd much rather spend one more night in Palenque than having to go to Villahermosa the evening before the flight. It's about a 2 hour trip as I read, and there used to be an ADO shuttle to the airport, but I cannot confirm that online. I suspect a taxi would be way too expensive. Is there a second class bus service that early in the morning midweek? Colectivo? Any other option?
Thanks, appreciate any ideas!
