I'm planning to do the salkantay trek by myself and my GF in July instead of going with a local tour company. Any suggestions?

Feb can be a bit chilly, but your choice of trek will ultimately indicate your needs.

You could look at 'Annapurna packing list' by Pinkerton, posted a few days back.

For me a cool riad in Marrakech was Ryad Laarouss in begin of Medina, look at booking.com. I have been there a couple of times and every time it was OK, only breakfast good be a little better, but ...
Ouarzazate is calm, clean town, it says it is the door into the desert, but not exactly. Desert is far from there. But you can visit Ait BenHaddou, kasbah Telouet, in Ouarzazate self you have to visit kasbah Taourirt and Palace of Gnaoui and of course you will experience High Atlas, you drive over…

Hi everyone, my partner and I have a few weeks in South America in June. We are going to the ibera wetlands and iguazu, then flying to salta. From there, I was thinking to go to cafayate, cachi etc and then up to jujuy/tilcara, then on to Tupiza to do the four day salt flat tour, ending in san pedro de atacama and making our way back to salta and flying back to BA home.

My question is whether doing NW argentina, san pedro and bolivian salt flat tour would be too much of a similar thing, and if…

Just curious if someone has an update on the road construction past Junbesi? Is it still feasible to trek from Junbesi to Namche without encountering a road or construction? My husband and I trekked from Jiri to Gokyo in Feb. 2014 and we often think about doing it again.

The treks themselves don't start in Cusco, though often you start with a bus from Cusco.

We did the Salkantay trek last year, and they take you by bus from Cusco to Mollepata, where you start the trek. Schematic map here: http://www.salkantaytrekking.com/trekking-in-peru/cusco/trekkingtomachupicchu-salkantay-llactapata-5days.html This route takes you over the mountains and then you spend your last night in Aguas Calientes before an early start to Machu Picchu on the next day. From AC you can…

Sounds reasonable to me, you'll have plenty of time and covering the major spots people usually go in the Visayas. I would add Manila for a few days, unless you're flying in/out of Cebu. I recommend the island hopping tours that take you to deserted tropical islands. Those were some of the nicest places I've ever seen in my life.

Hi,

My wife and I are gonna be in Calama on April 6 and wondering if anyone is looking to share a car rental.

We are interested in renting a larger vehicle and exploring San Pedro de Atacama and sights with the vehicle instead of tours. Also interested in doing some camping in the desert too.

We are somewhat flexible on time so could do the rental for a few days up to a week.

Thanks,

Matt
