Hello My Fellow Backpackers,
I'm planning a trip to Chile and Argentina for 3 weeks (Dec 15th) and already crying I don't have enough time to see such a gorgeous place! I've read blogs and done my research but would cherish some help. Here is my Itinerary and mainly I'm not sure how to add Mendoza. It would be a shame to leave it out, as my favourite wine in all the world is born here. Solo, Experienced Female Traveller, Backpacker 34 from Canada. Comfortable hiking but also its my vacation. Flights comes in and leaves from Santiago (also hoping the riots don't complicate things too much). Here is the first draft:
Santiago (1 day, 2 nights)
Valaparaiso (2 days, 2 nights, bus back to Santiago
Santiago Flight to Calama
San Pedro to Atacama (2 days, 3 nights)
Day bus 10.5 hrs to Salta
Salta (and surrounding areas for day trips ruins, wineries) 2 days, 3 nights
Fly Salta to Buenos Aires (BA 2 days, 3 nights)
Buenos Aires (BA 2 days, 3 nights)
Fly to El Calafate and 3 hr bus to El Chalten (I day to travel).
El Chaten and surrounding area (Mount Fitzroy) 3 days 4 nights.
*NOW HELP ME. I have 2.5 days left and need to get back to Santiago and I DIDN'T ADD Mendoza, eekkkk! Should I instead take a night bus (18 hrs) from salta to Mendoza. Then Mendoza to BA or add it to the start?
*Not my first trip to South America, but my high school Spanish is terrible.
