Hello,

My family (5 total) will be in Buenas Aires this winter (July-August) and we were hoping to enroll our kids (two 9 year old and one 8 year old) in a school for a month so they could experience school in another country. They are in Spanish immersion in the US so they speak Spanish well. Also they all do gymnastics in the U.S. and they were hoping to be able to find a gym where they could continue their gymnastics. I know gymnastics is not too popular in South America but was hoping a big city would have something?

Hi guys , I’m new to the forums & wanted to ask some questions regarding an itinerary I have booked as a surprise for my partners 30th in January ! We arrive in Buenos Aires @ 9am on the morning of the 2nd and fly home at 3pm on January 28 !

Now this is covering a couple of countries , but the brunt is in Argentina - so hope you can help !

We have already spent time in Salta , Buenos Aires , Puerto Mardyn & Bariloche , so this time we are concentrating on Patagonia !

Now my partner has family in Asuncion so I am trying to incorporate that into the trip ! Our itinerary is as follows :

Buenos Aires 2/3/4/5

6th Ferry to Colonia & overnight

7 bus to Montevideo

7/8 Montevideo

9th Fly to Asuncion

9/10/11 Asuncion

12 fly to Ciudad del Este & transfer to Iguazu Brazil side .

12 overnight in Foz

13 Iguazu Brazil side & in evening transfer to Argentina side

14 Iguazu Argentina with evening flight at 20:10 to Buenos Aires (stay at hotel close to airport)

15 Buenos Aires to El Calafate (8am flight)

15-27 is a 13 day Patagonia tour with SayHeque ( El Calafate/El Chalten/TdP/Puerto Natales/Ushuaia

27 flight to BA from Ushuaia @ 17:05

Would people mind critiquing this does it sound ok ?

does somebody know if there are simple possibilities to exchange USD/EUR to Pesos using black-market exchange rate in Puerto Iguazú?
I am unfortunatelly not going there via Buenos Aires, where you can exchange money at every corner....

Hi, does anyone know if while at EZE and AEP I can:
--sleep (at least stretch out with my backpack). If so, which airport is better for a 12-hr layover?
--buy an Argentina phone SIM card (preferably Claro)
--get pesos at an ATM

Also, are dehydrated backpacker meals available to buy in Chalten and Calafate?

Santiago is fine and there is enough to enjoy for say 5d, but compared to Madrid, Buenos Aires or Medellin (for example) (or a host of other LatAm or world cities) I don't consider it to be in the same league for a fascinating, different and vibrant longer stay. Valpo is also good for a few days but that would be enough for me.

Hi All,
Waited too long to book tix for Feb 20/20--so now we are thinking next year for Patagonia. Patagonia crosses Argentina & Chile, and we want to spend only 5 - 7 days in Patagonia. Can you advise what we would miss by staying in Chile vs. Argentina (and vice versa)? And what airports in each country we would fly into?
We also want to set aside time for Mendoza, Buenos Aires & any other "must-sees" you suggest.
Thinking about going early March 2020 or March 2021.

You know that you are travelling in high season in Bavaria? There are school holidays, so a lot of Bavarians are going to the Alps for skiing.

But also Hotels in cities will be booked out very fast. And for your dinner on New Years Eve you'd make a reservation as soon as possible.

We loved both cities in Uruguay, but for different things. Colonia is easy to get to, and full of old-world charm. We easily spent a day including a round trip on the ferry. We wrote about our experience here: Colonia del Sacramento Uruguay: A Day Trip from Buenos Aires

Montevideo is more of a destination than a day trip. Allocating only two days, we didn't spend long enough here but loved every minute. I wrote about it here: 22 Things to Do in Montevideo Uruguay

When Cubana had the LGW to HOG+HAV route, those were leased from Iceland Air. They don't have to have been US planes, though, do they? Just companies who do business with the US. The companies leasing would own the aircraft, no?
I read somewhere that the only remaining international routes are to Madrid and Buenos Aires. Those aircraft are Ilyushin (I think - I definitely flew on an Ilyushin to Buenos Aires from Havana, but that was a long time ago) so possibly owned by Cubana or maybe leased from Russia.
