Hello,
I planned to pass the New Year in Ko Pha-Ngan attracted by the full moon party. Going through the guide, I realized that December is in the Monsoon Period when rains are very common.
Should I re-arrange my schedule? Should I fear the rain?
I planned to stay just one day and an half and leave from Ko Samui on 2nd January (I bought already the flight ticket).
In case I decide to confirm the current schedule, I am worrying also about the boat that should bring me from Ko Pha-Ngan to Ko…
Was there last year, didn't see any evidence of any nightlife other than bars in the hotels & guest houses.
well the only way off Phi Phi is by ferry or speedboat, so getting to Krabi will be part of any method. Most methods will also require you to go from Koh Samui and from there to Ko Pha Ngan by boat/ferry.
From Krabi you can either go by air - Bangkok airways flies direct to Samui, or overland. The overland route will take you via Surat Thani and then to the ferry to Koh Samui. You can go overland by either regular bus service, or through a tour company. (iirc we paid about 600-700 BHT for…
I suggest you consider Ibiza Spain - I think you'll find what you're looking for there and no need to travel all the way to Thailand. Unless of course your australian, in which case you can head to Kuta beach in Bali.
I hope this is appropriate to write on here. I've read reviews about JS Hut Resort and it sounds great, except someone says the lady who works in the reception/restaurant is deranged and can get really angry and yells at people and other not nice sounding stuff. Has anyone else had this experience, or maybe it was a one off or something?
Here's the review:

Isnt rainbow bungalows the one owned my the Aussie guy and his Thai wife? if it is he's a decent enough chap and Mamma (his mother-in-law ) is lovely.Never stayed there but we've always been to say hello for the past 17 years and found them to be really nice.
i think you will be able to find accomodation pretty easily, and songkran is fun on koh phangan. stay in ban tai (SP bungalows maybe) and go to thongsala for the party. it's not too mad like bangkok.
Hi,
I will be travelling to Koh Pha Ngan for 3 weeks in August with my wife & two young children, ages 5 & 2. I was after some advice on the best beaches & accommodation options for family travel.
Firstly, we are looking for quiet beaches that still have a selection of restaurants/shops but are away from the masses & with snorkelling off the beach. I was thinking Mae Head beach in the north for snorkelling around Ko Ma & Than Sadet on the east coast. Ideally we will be staying at 2 or 3 places…
I like Than Sadet. It's a small, sandy bay, usually quiet, and looks great framed by big rocks. The sea gets deep quickly so it's good for swimming. It looks like it would be great for snorkelling too, although I have not snorkelled there. Access is by turning right at the major junction on the dirt road to Thong Nai Pan (signposted). Or you can get there by boat. Like Bottle Beach, it's relative isolation means that it's still relatively tranquil.
